NEWS:

PANTHER PARKWAY TO CLOSE MAY 15:

Begining Thursday, May 15, a section of Panther Parkway will close to through traffic between West 27th Street and West 30th Street. Access to the recycling facility will be available from West 27th Street via Panther Parkway. Weather permitting, construction of a new utility ductline will be completed and the street will re-open to traffic on May 29.

HELP WELCOME PARENTS OF NEW STUDENTS:

Once again, UNI will host a Parent Hospitality Tent during the sumer orientation sessions. Share your enthusiasm for UNI with the parents of our newest students. Facutly and staff assistance is needed to help staff the booth in the coffeehouse in Maucker Union. Volunteers will visit with parents and answer questions from 5 to 6 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays, June  9, 12,16,19, 23, 26 and 30, and July 7 and 10. MEMFIS USERS GROUP MEETING:

The next MEMFIS Users Group meeting will take place at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 15, in MSH 201. The primary agenda items will be demonstration of the new online transaction - request early e-mail account set-up for new employees, and travel reimbursement update and tips. Maucker Union: Chats serves beverages, sandwiches, Freshens Smoothies & Frozen Yogurt treats, and bakery items weekdays, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Prexy's offers a rotating menu of hot entrees weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Maucker Union restaurants will be closed on Monday, May 26, and Friday, July 4. Essentials in Maucker Union will be open weekdays, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

PADDLING PANTHER SUMMER SWIM LESSONS:

Paddling Panther summer lessons begin Monday, May 19. SUMMER LANGUAGE CAMP:

Children in grades two through eight have the opportunity to be immersed in Spanish, French, German, Russian and Chinese in the Third Annual Summer Foreign Language Camp offered Monday, June 23 through Friday June 27, by the UNI Department of Modern Languages. The camp fee is $95, which includes instruction, materials and a camp T-shirt. The registration deadline is Monday, June 9. Panther baseball hosts Missouri State in the final series of the regular season. The teams will meet at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 15, and Friday, May 16, and at 2 p.m., Saturday. All games are at Riverfront Stadium, Waterloo.

BBC PLANET EARTH FILM SERIES 'CAVES':

Descend into the only habitat not directly driven by sunlight at 1:30 and 3 p.m., Saturday, May 31, at the University Museum.

PERFORMING ARTS:

UNI SUZUKI SCHOOL SPRING CONCERT:

The UNI Suzuki School will offer its spring concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 18, in the GBPAC Great Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

LIVE FROM STUDIO ONE:

The Starlings will perform at 7 p.m., Monday, May 19, in KUNI's studio on the third-floor of the CAC. This Seattle-based band offers a unique blend of American country and folk music. Admission is $3 at the door, free for children under 12.
