Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006NEWSFALL FACULTY MEETING:The annual University Fall Faculty meeting will take place Monday, Aug. 28, at 3:30 p.m. in the Lang Hall Auditorium. President Ben Allen will deliver his first annual address to the faculty; new faculty will be welcomed; and faculty, staff, and student leadership will be introduced. Recipients of the Class of 1943 Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Ross Nielsen Award for Excellence in Service, the Donald McKay Award for Excellence in Research and the Regents Award winners will be recognized. Refreshments will be served following the meeting.
PARKING LOT TO CLOSE:Construction of the Human Performance Complex will begin the week of Aug. 21. This will reduce the size of the parking lot adjacent to the WRC/PEC. There will be no access to the UNI-Dome from the parking lot. UNI LAUNCHES E-NEWSLETTER FOR PARENTS:The first edition of the Panther Parent, UNI's new e-newsletter for parents and guardians, was launched last week. It will be distributed three times per semester. Content is very brief and focused on relevant key dates and time-sensitive issues. ORDER ACADEMIC APPAREL FOR INSTALLATION:The Installation Ceremony for President Allen will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, in the GBPAC. All faculty and staff are invited. Academic apparel will be provided free of charge. Reserve through the Registrar's Office by calling 3-2283 or contacting norma.riley@uni.edu. Faculty and staff members who have earned master's degrees or higher are eligible to wear a hood with their robes and march in the procession. Deadline for apparel reservations is Aug. 25. Delivery should occur on approximately Sept. 25. The Registrar’s Office will contact you when your order has been received. All apparel must be returned immediately after the ceremony.

ACADEMIC SERVICES HAS MOVED:The Department of Academic Services which includes Examination Services, the Reading and Learning Center, plus Athletics Academic Advising are located in room 007 of the Innovative Teaching and Technology Center, formerly known as the East Gym. WRITING CENTER HAS MOVED:The Writing Center is now located in the Innovative Teaching and Technology Center (ITTC) Room 008. Free writing assistance is available to students, faculty and staff. Call 3-2361 to schedule an appointment.
ITS - ADMIN HAS MOVED:Information Technology Services - Administration office moved to the Innovative Teaching & Technology Center (ITTC)Room 120. This move includes Karen Paulsen, Jane Fritts, Laurie Knipp and Sandee Murphy. All phone numbers will remain the same. The new mail code is 0301.
EMPLOYEE RESOURCESTRANSFER PLAN-IT DEMONSTRATION:Come see what the buzz is about. Transfer Plan-It is an online service designed to assist transfer students in determining which university requirements they may have satisfied based on the transfer work they have completed prior to attending UNI. It is important for all faculty and staff to see. Demonstrations are scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 6, in 109 CBB, at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

NEH INTERNAL APPLICATION NOTICE:Internal applications are being accepted by the Office of Sponsored Programs from faculty and staff for 2007 summer stipends from the National Endowment for the Humanities, due by 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18.
