ORDER ACADEMIC APPAREL FOR INSTALLATION:
The Installation Ceremony for President Allen will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, in the GBPAC. All faculty and staff are invited. Academic apparel will be provided free of charge. Reserve through the Registrar's Office by calling 3-2283 or contacting email@example.com. Faculty and staff members who have earned master's degrees or higher are eligible to wear a hood with their robes and march in the procession. Deadline for apparel reservations is Aug. 25. Delivery should occur on approximately Sept. 25. The Registrar’s Office will contact you when your order has been received. All apparel must be returned immediately after the ceremony.
MYUNIverse News will resume production on Monday, Aug. 14. Submission deadline is noon, Friday, Aug. 11. UNI Online will resume twice-a-week production (Tuesdays and Thursdays) starting Tuesday, Aug. 15.
ADD EVENTS TO UNIVERSITY CALENDAR:
When planning and scheduling lectures, concerts, meetings, etc. add them to the university calendar of events (http://access.uni.edu/acal/). This will help avoid conflicts which can occur when several events are scheduled for the same date. To inquire about authorization to enter events for your organization, contact the Data Access Team of Information Technology Services at 3-7720.
FIXED ASSET ACCOUNTING CHANGES FOR FY 2007:
Effective immediately there are new guidelines for recording equipment purchases, including the capitalization level, which has increased to $5,000. A new object code has been added to record non-capitalized electronic equipment. Refer to specific guidelines on the fixed asset Web page: http://www.vpaf.uni.edu/obo/fixedassets/index.shtml. Guidelines for the creation of purchase orders and procurement card charges remain the same for capital purchases taking into account the increased threshold.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS NEED DONATIONS:
The International Students Association and the International Services Office are asking for donations to help UNI's international students. Do you have extra household items cluttering your cupboards and drawers? Would you like to find a home for that mis-matched coffee mug AND have it go for a good cause? UNI UNVEILS FIRST-IN-THE-NATION ONLINE TOOL TO MAKE TRANSFERRING EASIER:
UNI has unveiled a unique online tool to help students with credit from other Iowa institutions transfer to UNI. Developed by UNI computer programmers and called "Transfer Plan-It," this online computer program allows prospective students to select courses they've taken and immediately see which classes transfer to UNI -- 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Wellness/Recreation Center (WRC) is closed for maintenance through Sunday, Aug. 13. The WRC will re-open at 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, continuing summer hours. Fall hours begin Sunday, Aug. 20, 3 - 11 p.m. Health Beat in Maucker Union is closed until Aug. 20, re-opening Monday, Aug. 21, at 6:30 a.m.
