NEWS

CALL FOR INFO ON UNI DIVERSITY COMMITTEES/INITIATIVES:

In order to coordinate a more accurate and comprehensive resource and contact list for diversity initiatives and committees at UNI, the CME is inviting the various parties on campus to provide information on your diversity committee/initiative by providing it's mission, target audience, list of members, Web site address if applicable, and main contact person's info via e-mail to Lydia.Roberts@uni.edu. CENTRAL RECEIVING MOVE:

As of Dec. 19, UNI's Central Receiving Warehouse will be located at 2412 W. 27 St. The old warehouse at 9301 University Ave. will no longer be used for Campus Stores or as a receiving area for the university. Contact Dennis Hayes at 3-7653 with questions.

 

PHYSICS DEPT. RELOCATION:

Due to the renovation of the Physics Building, the Physics Department Office will relocate from 205 Physics to the Center for Energy and Environmental Education (CEEE) Room 113B on Monday, Dec. 19. The campus mail code (0150) and telephone number (3-2420) will remain the same.

 
NEW RESERVE LISTS FOR SPRING SEMESTER:

It is time to submit requests for new items to put on reserve for spring semester. Spring 2006 requests are due by Dec. 23 to guarantee materials will be ready for checkout the first day of classes. An online submission form is available at http://www.library.uni.edu/msc/reserve/subform.shtml. Please contact Linda or Julie at libmsc@uni.edu or by calling 3-6002 if you have questions.

 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

TUTORS NEEDED:

Volunteer tutors are needed for all subjects during the spring semester for children ages 5-13 . Program runs Mondays 2:45-4:30 p.m. and Wednesdays 1:15-4 p.m. at the Payne Memorial AME Church Kids Cafe site, in Waterloo. Kids Cafe is a program of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. STAFF TRAINING GRANT:

Applications for the spring 2006 Staff Training Grant program are due in the Human Resource Services office by Jan. 9. Application forms can be found at http://access.uni.edu/forms/index.shtml#S. If you have any questions regarding the program please phone Human Resource Services at 3-6060.

 

MUG MINUTES:

Minutes for the Nov. 15, MEMFIS Users Group meeting are available at http://www.vpaf.uni.edu/memfis/memfis_users/documents/mm111505.pdf. The minutes include a document that reveal the changes to the MEMFIS systems after the upgrade on Dec. 10.

Spring sessions for faculty and staff include: Jan. 19, Feb. 8, March 23 and April 21. BASKETBALL INTRAMURALS:

Intramural Open Pre-Season Basketball Tournament: open to students, faculty and staff (men's and women's divisions). Entry fee: $20 with a two-game guarantee. A mandatory managers meeting will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in SEC Room 252. Make-up meetings are at 3:15 p.m. Jan. 17 or Jan. 18 in WRC Room 150.
Registration: WRC Room 101, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 and 18. Open pre-season tournament begins Jan. 23 - 26; semi-finals Jan. 30; and finals Jan. 31.

VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER:

The UNI Visitor Information Center will close for the semester break at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16. It will re-open Monday, Jan. 9, at 8 a.m.

 

MUSEUMS HOLIDAY HOURS:

University Museum will be closed Dec. 24-27 and Dec. 31-Jan. 2. Regular hours Dec. 28-30 (9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). Marshall Center School will be closed Dec. 23 through Jan. 1. http://www.uni.edu/museum

 

IRTS:

IRTS' curriculum library and computer labs will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, and will re-open at 7:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9.

 

CME INTERIM HOURS:

The CME facility and office hours are as follows: Saturday, Dec. 17, and Sunday, Dec.18--Closed; Monday, Dec. 19, through Friday, Dec. 23--8 a.m.- 5 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 24, through Monday, Jan. 2--closed.

PANTHER ATHLETICS:

Wednesday: Women's basketball hosts Iowa in the UNI-DOME at 7:05 p.m.

 

KUNI HOLIDAY PARTY AT THE REVERB:

The fourth annual KUNI X-mas Party will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 8 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door. All proceeds benefit KUNI. Acts to perform are The Mittens, "The Santaland Diaries" by David Sedaris performed by John Robinson, Jon and Amy from Measure, Raldo Schneider and special surprise guests.
