The UNI athletics department is declaring Nov. 25-27, "Championship Weekend." UNI will host the 2005 State Farm MVC Volleyball Tournament, the First Round of the I-AA Football Championship and the men's basketball home opener this weekend. The Panther football team will take on Eastern Washington at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, in the UNI-Dome. Fans are urged to get to the game early and wear purple. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets went on sale Monday morning at the UNI Athletics Ticket Office. Tickets may be purchased by phone at 877-216-DOME or in person at the UNI Athletics Ticket Office inside the Northwest entrance of the UNI-Dome. You can also order your playoff tickets online at www.unipanthers.com.
UNI will host the 2005 State Farm MVC Volleyball Tournament in the West Gym Friday and Saturday. The winner receives an automatic berth to the 2005 NCAA Tournament. The Panthers open the tournament on Friday at 12:30 p.m. against the Creighton BlueJays. All-session passes are available for $15. Single-session tickets will go on sale on Friday, Nov. 25, for the first session of the tournament.
UNI men's basketball team will open its home schedule on Sunday, Nov. 27, at 5:05 p.m. in the UNI-Dome against Upper Iowa.
MYUNIVERSE NEWS DEADLINE:
Due to the Thanksgiving holidays, the deadline for the Monday, Nov. 28, issue of MyUNIverse News is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23.
UNI VISITOR CENTER:
Since the UNI Visitor Center opened in August, most inquiries received relate to parking. The Visitor Center does not sell visitor parking passes. Guests are directed to the visitor lot or campus meters. If departments wish to provide parking permits for campus guests, contact UNI Public Safety. If departments want the Visitor Center to distribute those permits, contact Visitor.Center@uni.edu or e-mail Jan.Hanish@uni.edu Visitor Center hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
GILCHRIST HALL PROGRESS REPORT:
There is no new information to report about the criminal investigation. Damage estimates from the insurance adjusters may be completed before semester break. All Gilchrist departments have been asked to select a representative to work with Steve Pavelec from Facilities Services to organize the wholesale cleaning, storage and/or destruction of files. INNER WEATHER LITERARY JOURNAL:
UNI’s student-run literary journal, "Inner Weather," is seeking submissions of poetry, fiction, nonfiction and essays, as well as art that can be successfully displayed in a black-and-white, two-dimensional format. KAPPA DELTA PI ADOPT-A-FAMILY:
UNI Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society is sponsoring a family through the Adopt-a-Family program.The university community is invited to pitch in. UNI’s Association of Educational Office Professionals (UNI-AEOP) is participating in the Adopt-A-Family program this holiday season. Participation is open to the entire university community. INTRAMURAL 5-ON-5 INDOOR SOCCER TOURNAMENT:

Scott Peters, political science, will present "Campaign Financing and State Supreme Court Elections," Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 3 p.m., in Sabin Room 201. He will discuss the results of his research on how campaign financing has affected state supreme court elections throughout the United States. All are welcome.
