DEADLINE CHANGE:

Due to the July 4 holiday, the submission deadline for the next issue of UNI Online is noon Friday, July 1.

DEPARTMENT NAME CHANGE:

Conference & Event Services will change its name to University Events Coordination effective July 1. The phone number, location, mail code and fax will all remain the same. Jan Hanish, assistant vice president for event management, will split time between the University Events Coordination house and her office in 109 Gilchrist.

 

NEBRASKA STREET CLOSING:

Nebraska Street, near the northwest entrance to the UNI-Dome, will close for reconstruction and relocation on Tuesday, June 28. The street will be closed to through traffic. Access to the WRC parking lot/UNI-Dome north entrance will be available via 22nd Street. Access to the UNI-Dome and the UNI-Dome west parking lot will be available via Nebraska St. from 27th St. Nebraska Street is scheduled to re-open Aug. 19.

 

CLOSED FOR INVENTORY:

The Campus Supply store, located in the Physical Plant, and the University Avenue warehouse, will close for inventory June 28, 29 and 30. They will reopen July 1. The last day to place an order for this fiscal year was June 23.

 

CLOSING LOCATIONS:

Print Services has recently consolidated printing operations at the Physical Plant location. Copy Central in the Rod Library and the print center at Price Lab School have been closed. All services will continue to be offered from the Physical Plant location. Bev Schomaker's extension will remain 3-7722. Sue Watkins is at the main Print Services extension, 3-2448. INK CARTRIDGES AVAILABLE:

The CBA has unopened, homeless, color ink cartridges for a Desk Jet 1200/1600 (HP51640 - one each c, m and y). They also are compatible with a CopyJet M or Color Copier 210 or 210LX. Free to a UNI department that can use them.

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT TRAINING:

To learn more about student employment at UNI, register for Student Employment Training. Sessions are two hours in length and offered at three different times in early August. Training will cover student employment policies and procedures, the impact of Oracle, and more. To register, visit the MEMFIS section of MyUNIverse and click the "Register for Training" link. SPECIAL EVENTS

WRS SUMMER CYCLING EVENT:

Consider participating in a Wellness and Recreation Services group ride. An informational planning meeting is Thursday, June 30, 6:30 p.m., WRC 150 and is open to UNI students, faculty, staff and their families. Meet new people while leisurely exploring the Cedar Valley trail system. Contact WRS intern Ski MacTaggert, 3-7120, if you have questions.

 

REBUILDING THE HOME-- RACHEL CORRIE:

Cindy and Craig Corrie will speak about their daughter's peace mission in the Middle East, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, in Room 11, CEEE. Rachel Corrie was killed in Palestine on March 16, 2003, by an Israeli bulldozer while trying to prevent demolition of the home where she was a guest. Free and open to the public, this event is sponsored locally by Iowans for a Free Palestine. For more information call Emeritus Prof. Don Wiederanders at 266-6442.

 

TWO JULY SALES:

On Thursday July 7, UNI will hold a tag sale from 9 to 11 a.m. at the CET. This sale will include six cameras, a copystand, a HP color printer and other photo lenses and accessories. All items will be specifically priced for sale. Photos and more info will be available at http://www.vpaf.uni.edu/obo/fixedassets/pubsale.shtml after June 30. All items are sold "as is" and must be removed on the day of sale. All items must be paid for in cash (good check) on site before removal. Call Amy or Chrystal with questions about the photographic equipment at 3-7820. A large Diebold safe is for sale by sealed bid. Bids must be received at UNI-Office of Business Operations, 256 Gilchrist Hall 5 p.m. on July 7. Call Vince at 3-3527 with questions on either sale.
