NEWS

SPRING ISSUE OF RELIGION AND EDUCATION:

The spring 2005 issue of "Religion and Education" features a collection of papers from the American Academy of Religion that appear in a special focus section on "Rethinking Religion, Education and Pluralism." The issue is available in Rod Library. Excerpts are available at: www.uni.edu/jrae.

 

PURCHASING SURVEY:

A Purchasing Services Customer Satisfaction Survey is available in the "Current Announcements" section of MyUNIverse. This survey is intended as a measure of staff and service performance.

 

OFFICE RELOCATION:

On Thursday, May 19, the Office of Information Management and Analysis is relocating to Seerley Rooms 101 and 104. Its telephone, fax numbers and campus mail code will remain the same. If you have any questions, call 3-3050.

 

NO MAY MEETING FOR MEMFIS USERS GROUP:

The next MUG meeting will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 16, in SEC Room 252. MEMFIS reports related to HR, Payroll, and Budget are now available to users at the MEMFIS channel of MyUNIverse, "MEMFIS Reports/Discoverer." Register via MyUNIverse for reports training classes. MEMFIS Users are encouraged to send agenda ideas and suggestions for future meetings to mug-leaders@uni.edu

 

RE-AIR OF ARCHITECTURE SERIES:

The entire five-part series of "A Century of Architecture" is airing on Iowa Public Television Thursdays at 7 p.m. and re-airing Sundays at 1:30 p.m. The IPTV series features Maucker Union in part three, which airs Thursday, May 26 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 29 at 1:30 p.m.

 
COMPUTER-ROOM POWER OUTAGES:

The ITS computer room in CBB 19 will undergo a power outage Saturday, May 21, from approximately 6:30 a.m. until late afternoon. All central computing facilities (Web, e-mail, WebCT, ITS file and printing services, etc.) will be unavailable.

FACULTY SUMMER PAY:

With the Oracle process now in place, summer pay will be a little different. Starting this year, May teaching will be paid in May; June teaching will be paid in June and July teaching will be paid in July. For those who teach May/June session, pay will be split between May and June. Employees concerned about how the timing of summer pay will impact their income tax withholdings should complete an updated W-4 using their UNI Employee Self Service responsibility in Oracle or visit Payroll in Gilchrist 256. Questions should be directed to Melissa.Schreiber@uni.edu or 3-6211 in Payroll.

AUCTION: 

On Wednesday, May 18, UNI will host an auction at Warehouse #1 at 2412 West 27th St., west of the UNI-Dome. Items for sale and sale order: at 10 a.m., science and medical equipment, including exam tables, medical filing supplies, Geiger counters, several oscilliscopes and balance scales; next NordicTracs, a power washer and approximately 80 light fixtures; at approximately 10:45 a.m. a large quantity of computer and electronics equipment. Payment must be made in cash (good check) before removal. Parking will be available south of the warehouse. A picture ID is required to get an auction bid number. KUNI PRESENTS ROBBIE FULKS AT THE REVERB -- FRIDAY, MAY 20, 9 P.M.:

Robie Fulks' new album, "GEORGIA HARD," is aimed at country fans who wondered where their music went. Tickets are $8 and are available by calling The Reverb at (319) 277-4404. Brother Trucker opens the show.

 

KUNI BLUES CRUISE WITH THE BLUE BAND AND RANDY BURK:

The Dubuque Chamber of Commerce is planning "America's River Festival -- A Grand Excursion" for Memorial Day Weekend in Dubuque. As part of this celebration, KUNI will host a Blues Cruise on the Celebration Belle with entertainment provided on two decks featuring Bob Dorr & the Blue Band and a special duo show from Randy Burk & the Prisoners. Two cruises will be available on Sunday, May 29. Choose between a dinner cruise, or the Blues Cruise later that evening. This program, sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League's A World of Difference Institute, explores issues of identity, culture and awareness and emphasizes skills needed to confront and combat bias.
