UNI ONLINE SUMMER SCHEDULE:
Beginning next week, (May 10) UNI Online will be published once a week, on Tuesdays. Deadline is noon, Monday. The student newsletters, MyUNIverse News and My UNI Weekend, are not published during the summer. They will resume production Monday, Aug. 15.
SUMMER STUDENT EMPLOYMENT:
Departments hiring students for the summer should submit all student-hire paperwork, including approval forms, to Student Employment as early as possible. This will facilitate the creation of student timecards and timely processing for payroll. If paperwork for summer employees has already been submitted, additional paperwork is not required. Questions should be directed to Student Employment at 3-6394.

The Underground Railroad trip from May 12-15, will include visits to a former slave jail, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, the Rankin and Parker homes used to hide slaves, the location that inspired the writing of Uncle Tom's Cabin, and many others. FACULTY AND ACADEMIC-YEAR P&S EMPLOYEES 12-MONTH PAYCHECK OPTION:
Faculty and academic-year P&S employees may be paid for their continuing non-temporary academic-year appointment in 10 or 12 equal installments, beginning with the Aug. 31 or July 29 payroll, respectively. Employees who would like to change their salary payments from 10 to 12 months, or vice versa, must complete a form available from Payroll, 256 Gilchrist, or 3-2656, prior to May 15.
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR WINNERS:
Faculty Volunteer of the Year is Thomas Connors, History. He volunteers as president for the board of directors, Cedar Falls Historical Society. Honorable Mention was given to Kathleen Kerr, HPELS. She volunteers for Hartman Reserve Nature Center. Student Volunteer of the Year is Mandi DeRocher, who volunteers as College Buddy director, UNI Best Buddies program. Honorable Mentions: James "JB" Bolger, volunteers for Waterloo Regional Airport; Lisa Luedtke, volunteers for UNI Study Abroad; Gina Nechanicky, volunteers for Bluedorn Science Imaginarium; and Kyle Thomas, volunteers for UNI Habitat for Humanity.

RESERVE StudioIT FOR YOUR COURSE:
Located in Lang 245, the Studio for Innovative Teaching (StudioIT) is an interactive classroom equipped with a touch-screen SMART Board, 20 Gateway wireless laptops and a video-conferencing unit. ITS Educational Technology offers the use of StudioIT at no charge to UNI faculty for classroom instruction. We are taking reservations for fall 2005 classes. A commissioning ceremony to honor UNI senior cadets will take place Friday, May 6, at 7 p.m. in Lang Hall Auditorium.

Savor the flavor of wines from around the world as the Friends of KUNI/KHKE present the 20th Annual "Evening in Celebration of Wine & Tulips," Saturday, May 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Maucker Union. All are invited to join your colleagues and participate in the sixth-annual UNI Convocation ceremony Sunday, Aug. 21, at 4 p.m., in the GBPAC. P&S staff, who have earned master's degrees or higher, are eligible to wear a hood with their robes and march with the faculty in the Convocation procession. All academic apparel will be provided free of charge, and will be available in GBPAC Jebe Hall on Aug.21.
