CAMPUS SAFETY REMINDER:
Facilities Services reminds faculty, staff and students to take care
when walking across campus and parking lots. Changes in winter weather
can make walking surfaces slippery in a short amount of time. For

UNI Online DEADLINE CHANGE FOR HOLIDAY:
Due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, the deadline for the
Jan. 18 edition of UNI Online will be 5 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 13.

LABOR/MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES:
Through collective bargaining between the State and AFSCME, a
Labor/Management Committee was formed to address issues of interest
to both groups. Minutes of past Labor/Management Committee meetings

INTERNAL SEARCHES:
The Provost Office has openings for two academic administrative
positions and two faculty development positions. The Special Assistant
to the Provost for Personnel and Administration, and the Director of
Academic Assessment are revisions of currently existing positions.
The Administrative Development Program will provide two faculty each
year with opportunities to broaden their experience in higher education
administration. Details and application procedures are posted at

faculty and staff are encouraged to apply. The application deadline
is Jan. 24.

FORM W-2 ADDRESS CHANGE:
W-2s will be mailed to staff home addresses the last week in January.
To change a home address, go to "My UNIverse." Under "My Personal
Records," click on "Update My Personal Information" or e-mail
HRS-MAIL@uni.edu; call 3-2422 or stop by Human Resource Services,
in Gilchrist 104.

EMPLOYEE NEW-HIRE PAPERWORK:
The Personnel Data Sheet, which is completed by new employees along
with their I-9 and W-4 forms, has been revised to meet Oracle data
needs. If your department keeps copies of this form on hand, contact
Human Resource Services at 3-2422 to obtain the latest version.

NEW I.D. REQUIRED AT ROD LIBRARY:
All university employees must have a new identification card to check
out materials at the Rod Library. New identification cards can be
obtained by visiting the Department of Residence in Redeker
Center, or the Follon Student Services Center on the second floor of
Gilchrist Hall, near Financial Aid.

HOME COMPUTER POP-UPS AND SLOW DOWN PROBLEMS?
Microsoft has just released a beta version (free) of their AntiSpyware
removal and guard software for Windows. This Web-site has a video
explaining Spyware and Adware plus good practices to avoid infections.
This software is a good addition to the AntiSpyware tools collection.

MICROSOFT EXCEL CLASSES:
This comprehensive training will introduce the basic commands,
functions and capabilities of Excel. Module 1 covers beginning
topics, Module 2 intermediate skills and Module 3 will
address advanced issues. Module 1: March 7, Module 2: March 9,
Module 3: March 11, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $299 for all

This database will provide quick, selective access to information

SPECIAL EVENTS
EQUIPMENT AUCTION:
On Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m., warehouse at 2412 West 27th St. --
west of the UNI-Dome. The first items to be sold will be scientific
equipment from the Physics Dept. including an oscilloscope,
Geiger counter and two scalers. Immediately following will be the
sale of some used electronic equipment, computers and computer
equipment. All items are sold "as is" and must be removed that
day. Payment must be made in cash or check on site before removal.
A photo ID is required to obtain a bidding number. Call Vince at
3-3527 with questions.

Open to students/faculty/staff, men's and women's division, $20 entry
fee/two-game guarantee. Required managers' meeting on Thursday, Jan. 13,

courts. Makeup managers' meetings are Jan. 18 or 19 at 3:15 p.m., WRC

ATHLETIC CLUB RENEWAL CARNIVAL:
This Saturday, Jan. 15, the UNI Athletic Club will host the 6th Annual
Membership Renewal Carnival in the UNI-Dome. The carnival will take place
before the men's basketball game versus Creighton, from 5 until 6:45 p.m.
Free to anyone with a game ticket. Athletic Club members can use the coupon
sent in the winter benefits package to get free game tickets. Support
UNI student athletes by renewing your pledge or joining the UNI

LECTURES/PRESENTATIONS
POETRY READING:
Jennifer K. Dick, author of the award-winning collection of poetry,
"Fluorescence," will read from her work Thursday, Jan. 13, at 7:30 p.m.
in Baker 161. Her work appears in "The Colorado Review," "Green Mountains
Review," and the anthologies "Short Fuse" and "100 Poets Against War."

LEADERS ON LEADERSHIP SPEAKERS SERIES:
President Koob and Jane Hasek, Chancellor of Allen College, are
the first presenters in this semester's "Leaders on Leadership"
speaker series, Thursday, Jan. 27, 3:30-4:45 p.m. in 252 SEC. The
series continues most Thursdays during the semester, with leaders
from a number of fields, and is free and open to the public.
Additionally, students can register for a one credit course reporting
on the speakers (see spring schedule book, 680:186:05).
