TIME SHEETS DUE:
Due to the conversion to Oracle Payroll, all outstanding time sheets,
and absence reports, for students and staff need to be received in
Payroll no later than Thursday, Dec. 16. If you have questions
please contact payroll at 3-3438.

DECEMBER PAYCHECKS:
Staff direct-deposit notices are availabe for pick-up at the Mail
Center from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday, Dec 30. Notices not picked
up will be delivered in campus mail on Monday, Jan. 3. Staff paychecks
will be mailed to staff home address. December paychecks and direct-deposit
notices for students are mailed to the student's home, not local address.

UNI NAMES INTERIM ASST. VP FOR MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS:
John Goossen, former publisher of the "Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier,"
has been appointed interim assistant vice president for Marketing &
Public Relations at UNI. He will lead the university's integrated
marketing efforts and oversee the Office of University Marketing
& Public Relations. He can be reached at 3-2761 and is located in
127 GIL. The appointment was effective Dec. 13. Goossen replaces
Gerald Anglum who died in November.

FALL ISSUE OF RELIGION AND EDUCATION:
"Religion and Education," an interdisciplinary journal of analysis
and comment, has been published biannually at UNI for four years.

ASSOC. DIRECTOR NAMED FOR COMPLIANCE & EQUITY MANAGEMENT:
Gwenne Culpepper has been named associate director for Compliance and
Equity Management. She will assume her new duties in Gilchrist 115, on
Jan. 3, 2005.

VOC REHAB MOVE:
The office of Vocational Rehabilitation has moved from East Bartlett to
30 Baker. Phone number and mail code remain the same.

LAST CALL FOR VAGINA WARRIORS:
This is the final call for Vagina Warrior nominations. Vagina Warriors
are people who have experienced or witnessed violence and are working
to end it. These nominees will be honored during V-week activities
Feb. 7-12. To honor someone, send a short description of why this
person is a Vagina Warrior to uni_vdaycommittee@hotmail.com
All nominations are due by Friday, Dec. 17 at 5 p.m.

The College of Humanities and Fine Arts is organizing a
celebration of Walt Whitman in honor of the 150th anniversary of
the publication of "Leaves of Grass." The entire university community
may contribute to this event, tentatively planned for November 2005,

SWIM LESSONS:
The Paddling Panther Learn-to-Swim program is taking
registrations for the spring semester. Classes are available to
the children of students, faculty and staff in skill levels 1- 6.
The half-semester classes are Jan. 22 - March 5 and March 26 - May 7
and cost $17.50. The full-semester classes are Jan. 22 - May 7

Professors who have items on reserve and would like

Renowned author and professor Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
(Me-HI CHIK-sent-me-hi) will lecture on creativity Thursday, March 3

Psychology of Optimal Experience," he also will deliver presentations
on March 4 for the COE and CBA. Csikszentmihalyi is known worldwide

INTRAMURAL BOWLING:
The Intramural League Bowling managers' meeting will be Wed., Jan.
12, at 4 p.m. in WRC 252. Registration is Thursday, Jan. 13 and Friday,
Jan. 14 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in WRC 101. Bowling will take place
at Valley Park Lanes in Cedar Falls on Wednesday, Jan. 26 or Friday,
Jan. 28.
