NEW PERSONALIZED ADMISSIONS WEB SITE ONLINE:
The new Personalized Admissions Web Site (PAWS), is available for
on-campus testing. It is targeted at prospective students, allowing
them to create a customized view of their life as a UNI student. Students
can save their account, which begins a communication relationship with
the university. Public awareness begins Oct. 1; on-campus informational

Phishing attacks via computer have been doubling every month. In a
phishing attack, thieves pretend to send you to a reputable site
like Citibank's, and ask for your private data, so they can steal your
money or identity. Recent research shows that one in 20 people

USER QUARANTINE MANAGEMENT SUGGESTION:
The "User Quarantine Release Notification" in your e-mail in-box contains
groups of potential SPAM e-mails. Click on the quarantine notification.
If you don't see any messages you need, simply delete the notification.
If you find messages you need, follow the URL instructions to retrieve
them. You also can "whitelist" messages so they will no longer be caught

HUDSON ROAD PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS CLOSED:
The Hudson Road pedestrian overpass is closed until further notice because
the walking surface is potentially hazardous. Facilites Planning is working
with the project engineer and contractor to correct the situation.

RESERVE StudioIT FOR YOUR COURSE:
Located in Lang 245, the Studio for Innovative Teaching (StudioIT) is an
interactive classroom equipped with a touch screen SMART Board, 20 Gateway
wireless laptops and a video-conferencing unit. ITS Educational Technology

GOT IGNORANCE? RALLY:
The "Got Ignorance?" campaign addresses acts of discrimination,
violence and injustice motivated by hatred, intolerance and ignorance
that occur on college campuses nationwide. The campaign is hosting its
first-ever rally at UNI Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the
Maucker Union Hemisphere Lounge. This rally will include personal
testimonials from victims, skits and an exchange of information.
T-shirts will be available, provided by the Center for Mutlicultural
Education. A $5 donation is requested, but not required. Those who
receive shirts will be required to fill out a personal pledge sheet
indicating that they are willing to become ambassadors for the campaign.

The first meeting will take place at noon, Tuesday, Sept. 14, in
the Presidential Room, Maucker Union. Plans for the upcoming year
will be shared, including the spring workshop, Installation, and

ESSENTIALS GRAND OPENING:
Essentials, the new retail store in the Union, will host grand
opening events from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept.
14 and 15. Featured will be drawings for prizes, special coupons,
free ice cream from Wells Blue Bunny (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and samples
of "Pitch Black" Mountain Dew (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Prizes include gift
baskets prepared by Essentials, tickets to UNI football and men's
basketball games, tickets to a performance at the GBPAC, and gifts from
the WRC. Bags of popcorn will sell for 50 cents from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

OFF-HUDSON PLAY READING: GUM
Could chewing gum from the Western world be the weapon of choice
for destroying the morals of young women from the East? This question
is pondered in a clash of cultures in Karen Hartman's "Gum," a

NATIVE AMERICAN POWWOW:
A powwow will be take place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24 and 25
at the West Gym. Powwow begins Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday

ARTISTS LECTURE:
Yulia Vasil'evna Gusarova, Professor of Art at the Russian State Pedagogical
University in St. Petersburg, will deliver a public lecture,

FAMILY FEST CHEMISTRY MAGIC SHOW:
Saturday, Sept. 18, the Chemistry Department open house will
feature a chemistry magic show, presented by UNI chemistry majors.

Science Hall. Look for the signs pointing the way. Refreshments
