NEWS

EMERGENCY SIREN:
The Blackhawk County Emergency Management Agency will conduct
a test of the outdoor early warning siren system on Wednesday,
Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. One sound is used for the test - a steady
wail lasting for three minutes. If severe weather conditions are
present, the test will be canceled to avoid confusion in the event
there may be a need for an actual warning.

WAYFINDING UPDATE:
The first phase of a revitalized building- and directional-sign
program was approved by the UNI Cabinet this spring. Watch for new
signs on campus. Street addresses will now be used for identifying
campus buildings that don't currently carry a person's name. The three-
letter building codes will not change. For more information and
building addresses, visit

RENAMING OF FORMER STUDENT SERVICES CENTER:
The former Student Services Center, located at 1116 W. 23rd Street,
has been renamed East Bartlett. The student services functions
have moved to Gilchrist Hall. The three letter designation for the
building will remain SSC. This change is consistent with the building
naming direction provided by the Cabinet.
------------------------------------------------------------------
NEW UNI ID/USAGE AT WRC:
Those who register for WRS facility usage and obtain new
UNI IDs, contact Phyllis.Boeke@uni.edu or 3-7166 with the new ID
number. The new number needs to be loaded into the WRS system to match
the number on the ID. This prevents problems when scanning IDs at the
Welcome Desk. Faculty/staff may obtain new university IDs at the DOR
or the Student Services Center in Gilchrist, anytime before the end of
this semester. New photos are required.
