CONVOCATION: Convocation
will take place at 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, in the GBPAC. New students
to the university are invited to officially begin their academic journey
by attending convocation, setting the tone for a year of dedication
and motivation. UNI President Robert Koob will deliver the keynote
address, "Great Expectations." Brendon Moe, NISG president, will offer
a special welcome to the student body.

NEW STUDENT SERVICES CENTER GRAND OPENING:
The grand opening of the new Student Services
Center in Gilchrist Hall, will take place the week of Aug. 16. The
center provides centralized services for students including advising,
career services, financial aid, registration and records, and student
accounts. Faculty, staff and students may participate in informational
sessions in 207 Gilchrist on Aug. 16, 10-11 a.m.; Aug. 17, 3-4 p.m.
and Aug. 18, 10-11 a.m.

ON CAMPUS NEXT WEEK: The
UNI Jump Start Orientation Program begins Sunday, Aug. 15 and concludes
Friday, Aug. 20. This orientation program is in its seventh year of
providing ethnic minority students a "jump start" on their first year

JE PROCESS REVISED: The
university's journal entry process has been revised. More information
requested in the journal description will assist users in tracking
entries. To satisfy state audit concerns, department heads should

Applications for the fall 2004 Staff Training Grant program are due

FALL UNIVERSITY OFFICE HOURS: Beginning
Monday, Aug. 16, regular business hours (8 a.m. -5 p.m.) for university
offices resume. Supervisors of staff who do not have e-mail access
should inform them of regular business hours.

MUSEUM CLOSED: The
University Museum will be closed until Friday, Aug. 13. The museum
will be open 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The Marshall Center
School will be open its usual hours of Fridays and Sundays from 2
to 4 p.m. Normal hours will resume Monday, Aug. 16. To contact the

WEBCT WORKSHOPS FOR FACULTY: ITS-Educational
Technology is offering WebCT workshops 1, 2 & 3 on Aug. 16, 17 and
18 from 9 a.m. until noon for faculty members who would like a refresher
on using WebCT or for those who have never used WebCT. WebCT allows
faculty to create online courseware as a supplement to an existing
face-to-face course, or create a course that is completely online.

BUSINESS REGULATIONS: This workshop will
provide small businesses with a general background of the environmental
