NEWS 

NETWORK/SERVER OUTAGES: This coming Saturday, July 17, there will be two power outages in the CBB that will affect the central computer room and all servers/ services housed there. These outages are necessary for the upgrade of our uninterruptible power supply. The first outage will begin sometime before 7 a.m. and will conclude by 8 a.m. The second outage will be from 4 p.m. to about 5 p.m.

FY05 FRINGE BENEFIT RATES: The fringe benefit rates have been updated for FY05 and are available on the Web at: http://tinyurl.com/4xsze These percentages will be used for budget and payroll purposes effective July 1. The rates will be applied consistently to all budgeted positions and paid employees, regardless of fund source. INTERIM ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT FOR COMP/EQUITY MANAGEMENT: Effective July 1, Leah Gutknecht will serve as the Interim Assistant to the President for Compliance and Equity Management, until the search for the position left by Winston Burt is completed. The Office of Compliance and Equity Management is located in 115 Gilchrist Hall, and staff can be reached at extension 3-2846. Burt has elected to serve in a Department of Social Work faculty position.

NEW ONLINE COMMON SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEMO: Attend a demonstration to see how the new application will impact your administration of scholarships. TERESA HILBERT RETIREMENT OPEN HOUSE: Teresa Hilbert, Office and Accounts Clerk in Maucker Union, is retiring from UNI after 26 years of service, with 20 of those years in Maucker Union. Festivities take place on Wednesday, July 21, from 2-4 p.m. outside the Student Involvement & Activities Center (upper plaza of Maucker Union).

MICROSOFT EXCEL WORKSHOP:
The power and functionality of this spreadsheet software application extends well beyond accounting. Learn the basics (e.g., creating worksheets, formatting cells) to the more advanced (e.g., using PivotTables, consolidating worksheets, validating data) commands and capabilities of Microsoft Excel through Chris Case's three module structure. Modules 1 and 2 will be offered Monday, July 19 and Module 3 will be offered Tuesday, July 20.
