NEWS 

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE - 27TH STREET RECONSTRUCTION:
Beginning Monday, May 10, the 27th Street/Minnesota Street
intersection will be closed for reconstruction. The work at this
intersection is Phase I of the Institutional Roads 2004 project
to reconstruct the entire length of 27th Street from Hudson Road
east to Ohio Street. The work related to Phase I is anticipated
to be completed by May 26, weather permitting. During Phase I,
access to Minnesota Street and the West Gym "A" parking lot will
not be available.

WARNING SIREN TO SOUND WEDNESDAY:
The Black Hawk County Emergency Management Agency (BHCEMA) will
conduct a test of the outdoor early warning siren system on the
first Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. Only one sound is used
for the test, a steady wail lasting for about three minutes. For

STUDENT HEALTH CLINIC MOVE:
The UNI Student Health Clinic is temporarily moving to 115 Dancer Hall
during renovation of its building. The clinic will be closed from May
10 to May 14. The clinic will reopen in 115 Dancer Hall on Monday,

NATIONAL "FILL IN THE BLANK" DAY:
University Marketing & Public Relations is compiling a comprehensive
list of national days, weeks and months. We use this information to
pitch story ideas to local, regional and national media. Almost every
department, college and unit on campus has at least one national day,
week or month directly or indirectly associated with its mission.
Examples: Black History Month, Women's History Month, National Poetry
Month, Playground Safety Week, American Education Week, Astronomy Day,
Math Week, etc. Please send an e-mail containing the following
information: 1) Name of the day/week/month; 2) When celebrated;
3) UNI contact person, phone and e-mail. Send to

FALL FACULTY MEETING:
The fall University Faculty meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 23,
from 3:15-5:30 p.m. at Strayer-Wood Theatre. If you have questions,

UNI SATURDAY CELEBRATION:
Bob and Yvonne Koob cordially invite all faculty and staff, and their
families, to the 9th annual UNI Saturday Celebration from 11:30 a.m.

NEW ORACLE SUPPLIER SETUP FORM:
A revised Oracle Supplier Setup form has been posted to the Memfis
forms repository. This revised form also serves as a Substitute W-9
to comply with IRS regulations. All requests for new vendor/supplier
additions to Oracle should be done on this form beginning May 3. For

SPECIAL EVENTS
TAG SALE:
On Friday, May 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday May 8, from
9 a.m. to noon, UNI will hold a tag sale at the East Gym. Office furniture
(mostly desks & chairs) and some athletic items will be available. All
items are specifically priced for sale. All items are sold "as is" and
must be removed by 1 p.m. on Saturday. Payment must be made in cash (good
check) on site before removal. Parking will be available in the "A" lot
on West 23rd St. across from St. Stephens. Call Vince at 3-3527 with
questions.

WINE & TULIPS:
KUNI presents its annual wine tasting event from 6 to
8 p.m., Saturday, May 8 in Maucker Union. Raffle tickets will be
sold for $10 for a chance to win the original Gary Kelly artwork
created for this year's event. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at

PERFORMING ARTS
UNI SCHOOL OF MUSIC EVENTS:
The Northern Iowa Children's Choir Concert, conducted by Michelle Swanson,
will perform Friday, May 7, in the GBPAC, Davis Hall at 7:30 p.m. No
admission charge. The Choir is comprised of third, fourth, sixth and
seventh grade students from Northeast Iowa. Several pieces, ranging
from Mozart to rock and roll, will be performed.

PICK UP uCARDS:
Current student IDs expire May 10. Pick up new uCards from the Department
of Residence in the Redeker Center.

U-BILLS GOING ELECTRONIC:
Beginning in September 2004, u-bills will be delivered electronically
through MyUNIverse. Paper bills will no longer be mailed to enrolled
students or their parents. Students with a balance will receive an
e-bill reminder in their University e-mail account and should review
bills through MyUNIverse. The August 2004 u-bill will be sent to students
in both formats, paper and electronic, to ease the transition. Contact
