MENINGITIS UPDATE:
According to the Black Hawk County Health Department (BHCHD), a 20-year-old
female UNI student died this week from a case of bacterial meningitis.
Under the direction of the BHCHD, the UNI Student Health Clinic is
coordinating with Educational and Student Services and the Department
of Residence. Faculty, staff and students who may be at risk have

CAREER CENTER IS MOVING: Beginning Sept.
29, the Career Center will be located in 113A East Gym. During spring
semester the Career Center will move to Gilchrist to be part of the

STURGIS YOUTH THEATRE: Sturgis
Youth Theatre is accepting registrations for fall classes, beginning
Oct. 13. Under the direction of Gretta Berghammer, the Sturgis Youth
Theatre offers creative drama classes for children ages 3 1/2 and

Professional Development Assignments for 2004-2005 are available to
tenured faculty for scholarly research and creative activity. A PDA
provides full pay for one semester or one-half salary for an academic

Technology is offering free WebCT workshops on Oct. 24, 31, and Nov.
7, 8:30 a.m. - noon. These classes are for faculty who would like
a refresher on how to use WebCT, who would like to see the new features
of 3.8, or for those that have never used WebCT before. WebCT allows
faculty to create online courseware as a supplement to an existing
face-to- face course, or helps you create a course that is completely

FALL SPANISH FILM FESTIVAL: The
Department of Modern Languages and Sigma Delta Pi Spanish honor society
are hosting a Spanish Film Series every Wednesday in October in CAC
108 starting at 7 p.m. Five films from Oscar-award-winning Spanish
director Pedro Almodovar will be screened. Every film will be proceded
by a short introduction and discussion. All films will be in Spanish

FAMILY FEST DANCE CONCERT: The
UNI Family Weekend Dance Concert, featuring the UNI Orchesis Dance
Company and the UNI International Dance Theatre, will be Sunday, Sept.
28, at 2 p.m. in the GBPAC. The program will feature modern dance,
ballet, jazz and tap as well as international dances, ballroom dance
and American clogging. The performance is free and open to the public.

IOWA ELECTRATHON CHAMPIONSHIP:
High school teams from Florida, Wisconsin, Nebraska & Iowa will be
competing for the Iowa Electrathon Championship on Saturday, Sept.
27. Events include vehicle inspection, braking and handling competitions,
best car evaluation, and two endurance races. Activities from 8 a.m.
to 4 p.m. in the parking lot south of the GBPAC. For details call

UNI PRAIRIE PRESERVE 30TH ANNIVERSARY: Saturday,
Sept. 27, 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. the UNI Biological Preserves Committee
will honor the UNI prairie and celebrate the achievements of the Preserves
System Founders. President Koob will honor the founders at 9:30 a.m.
in the CEEE rotunda. Prairie tours, a plant sale, exhibits, children's
