Resource Services is beginning to update PERSONAL information for
the 2003-2004 UNI campus phone book. To update personal (home) information

MORE MARS VIEWING: If
you were not able to view Mars last week when it was closest to Earth,
you can still see it this month. There are regular observatory programs
at McCollum Science Hall, and several open houses at Hillside Observatory

STUDENT E-MAIL: Beginning
Monday, Sept. 15, UNI e-mail accounts for students not registered
for the fall semester will be disabled, archived to tape, and removed
from the server.

OFFICE RELOCATION: The
Office of Information Management and Analysis has relocated to the
Rod Library room 441. Telephone, fax numbers and on-campus mail code
stays the same.

8TH ANNUAL SATURDAY CELEBRATION: All
faculty, staff and their families are invited to the 8th Annual UNI
Saturday Celebration Saturday, Sept. 6, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
on the south lawn of the president's home. Food, drinks & table service
are provided. Please bring lawn chairs or a blanket. Free open recreation
will be available for UNI families in the WRC until 5 p.m. (Check
in at main desk; clean shoes required and children must be accompanied
by an adult). Rain location is Maucker Union.

PANTHER MEAL PLAN: The
"Panther Meal" Plan being promoted on campus and at local restaurants
is not associated with the university. It is a declining balance plan
organized by a company based in Virginia. Information about UNI Dining
Services on the Panther Meal Plan Web site is not correct.

SYMPHONY TICKETS: Single
tickets to the nine Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony concerts, as well
as the Sept. 21 Chamber Music concert, are now on sale. Call the GBPAC

CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE: Criteria:
Preference given to undergraduate UNI students working towards degree
or certificate, financial need and off-campus child care expenses.
Graduate students may apply. Deadline is Sept. 12. Minimum award:

RESERVE StudioIT FOR YOUR CLASS: Located
in Lang 245, the Studio for Innovative Teaching (StudioIT) is an interactive
classroom equipped with a touch screen SMART Board, 20 Gateway wireless
laptops, and a video-conferencing unit. ITS Educational Technology
offers the use of StudioIT at no charge to UNI faculty for classroom

Association of Educational Office Professionals kicks off the 2003-04
season Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Old Central Ballroom, Maucker Union. Guest
speakers will be Kamyar Enshayan and Pat Higby, presenting "UNI Energywise."

MEMFIS Training Team is investigating campus-wide need for additional

FOREIGN CAREERS LECTURE: Stanley
A. Otto, the First Secretary for Economic Affairs for the U.S. Embassy
in Tokyo will speak on "Careers in the Foreign Service" Thursday,
Sept. 4 from 3 - 4 p.m. in the State College Room, lower level, Maucker
Union. Learn about foreign affairs, careers in the foreign service
and living abroad.

Rex Honey of the Department of Geography at the University of Iowa

HONOR ELDON: A
special event honoring Eldon and Dee Miller for their service to UNI
will take place Saturday, Sept. 20 in the UNI-Dome. The UNI Foundation
invites faculty and staff to make a gift to the McLeod Center in recognition
of Eldon and Dee. The goal is to raise $500,000 and to then name the
plaza between the UNI-Dome and McLeod Center in their honor. To purchase
