UNI STRATEGIC PLAN: The
Strategic Planning Review Committee met twice this summer to discuss
the beneficial feedback it has received to date from faculty and staff.
Potential modifications to the UNI Strategic Plan have been made and
can be reviewed at http://aflink.af.uni.edu/stratplan.
The committee will meet this fall to discuss how the objectives in the
UNI plan mesh with the objectives in the Board of Regents Strategic
Plan. Please send comments on the potential changes to the current plan,
by Sept 12, using the e-mail feedback link on the Web site.

GILCHRIST CONFERENCE ROOMS: Due
to the construction of the Integrated Student Services Center in Gilchrist
Hall, Gilchrist conference rooms 201, 207 and 209 will not be available
for meetings after October 10, 2003.

HEALTH BEAT UPDATE: The
East Gym Health Beat fitness area will reopen for the fall semester
on Monday, August 25 (hours M-F, 6:30 am-6:30 pm). Fall semester operation
will be contingent on the East Gym construction schedule. Locker and
towel service will continue to be available. Arrangements can be made
through the Health Beat fitness supervisor. Users should be advised
that locker room custodial service will be minimal and that there will
be no hot water for showers. WRS will keep you posted as plans are finalized
for the Health Beat relocation to the student union.

TAG SALE: On Thursday,
Aug. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., UNI will have a tag sale at the UNI
warehouse, 2412 West 27th St. -- west of the UNI-Dome. A large variety
of chairs and seating units will be available, as well as desks, files,
podiums, and a few bicycles. All items are specifically priced for sale.
All items are sold "as is" and must be removed by 4 p.m. on Thursday.
All items must be paid for in cash (good check) on site before removal.

NAME UPDATE FOR PUBLIC SAFETY:
As of July 1, the UNI Department of Public Safety has two divisions:
the Police Division and the Parking Division. The overall department
mission does not change. This name change is similar to changes made
last year at Iowa State University and the University of Iowa.

FACULTY MEETING: The
opening faculty meeting will be Monday Aug. 25 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.
in Strayer-Wood Theatre. Refreshments from 3 - 3:30 and at 4:45 in the
lobby. All faculty and staff may attend.

UNI VS. ISU TAILGATE:
The UNI Alumni Association will host a tailgate prior to the UNI vs.
ISU game in Ames Aug. 30th. All alumni and friends are welcome! Cost
is $8 for association members or children 12 and under. $10 for non-members.
The tailgate is from 4-5:30 p.m. Kick-off is 6 p.m. Call 3-2355 for
reservations.
