DELL SPECIAL: For a great deal on a new Dell desktop for home

UNI SERVICE CLUB PRESENTATION: Service clubs, such as Rotary and
Kiwanis, routinely request presentations by President Koob about
hot topics affecting higher education. University Marketing &
Public Relations will be working work with UNI faculty and staff
interested in delivering a 20-minute presentation to Iowa’s service
clubs. The PowerPoint, titled "Community Builders" can be found at The presentation includes
powerful information about workforce statistics, benefits of an
educated workforce, wealth creation, the role of education in the
economy, and current legislative issues affecting higher education

STATE FAIR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: UNI will exhibit at the Iowa State
Fair Aug. 7-17. Over 200 alumni volunteers staff the exhibit.
The State Fair attracts over 1,000,000 visitors annually and
provides wonderful visibility for UNI to promote its services to
Iowa. Faculty and staff volunteers are needed to staff six hour
shifts, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and 3 - 9 p.m. Volunteers receive free
UNI polo shirts and admission to the Fair. If interested, contact

SUBMIT INFO FOR 2003 FAMILY WEEKEND: 2003 Family Weekend is Sept. 26-28.
Schedules for college departmental and organizational activities must
be received soon for inclusion in the 2003 UNI Family Weekend brochure.
The tailgate begins at 2 p.m. and the football game at 4:05 p.m. Plan
your events accordingly. Submit activity description, time, date,

FY CLOSING SCHEDULE: It's time to prepare departmental accounts for
fiscal year close-out. The FY2003 closing schedule is set. For help

PAYROLL TIME SHEET CUTOFF CHANGE: The June 2003 payroll time sheet
cutoff date for merit time sheets and students using Kronos time
clock has been changed from Saturday, June 7 to Saturday, June 14.

MWD FLOAT: UNI will have a float in the My Waterloo Days Parade May 30
at 6:30 p.m. downtown Waterloo. UNI's entry will promote UNI through
promotion of Athletic and GBPAC events.
RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT: Larry Gordon is retiring from UNI as a
Storekeeper II after 27 years of service. A retirement celebration
is planned at the Cedar Falls Amvets, 20th & Irving Sts. on Friday,
May 30 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. UNI AFSCME Local 2659 will host the
celebration and Shooting Star Sound Productions will be providing
Music and Karaoke. Come and wish Larry well.


GATEWAY DANCE THEATRE: Performs at the GBPAC Saturday, May 31 at 7:30 p.m.
This performance is sponsored in part by the Iowa Arts Council & KBBG FM.
The organization provides programing and training in the arts as well as

CREME DE LA CREME 3:Friends of the Gallagher-Bluedorn presents CrËme de
la CrËme 3, a fundraising event showcasing outstanding performers of the
Cedar Valley, Sunday June 1, at 3 p.m. in the Great Hall, GBPAC. Tickets
are general admission; $15/adult and $5/youth, age 18 and younger; light
refreshments are included. Tickets are on sale now at 3-SHOW.
UNI MUSEUMS' A to Z SUMMER INSTITUTE: The Museums' A to Z Institute is a
new way of celebrating hands-on learning for school-age children. The
letters A to F will be covered this summer, with the rest of the alphabet
following in the fall, winter and spring. Classes will meet June 9-13
from 9-12:00 each day. Sessions A, C, D & E will be held at the University
Museum; B will be at the Marshall Center School. Programs are:
"All About Africa"; "Books, Benches and Blackboards"; "The Chemistry of
Crystals"; "Dancing and Drumming"; "Eggs, Eggs, and Emus." The fee for
A-E week is $85 or $20 per day. Please call 3-2188 for detailed
information. Registration deadline is June 3.
UNI MUSEUMS' A-Z INSTITUTE - "F Day": Flashes, Film and Fotos will meet
twice. In session I, June 16, students will learn about photography,
composition, and choice of subject. Session II (June 30) will cover
selecting and preparing photos for exhibition. These pictures will be
displayed alongside the summer photographic exhibit, "Children of the World."
Classes meet from 10 - 11:30 a.m. Cost is $20. Register by June 3.
