UPDATE FOR UNI OFF-CAMPUS E-MAIL
USERS (disregard this message if you use Mailman or
Mailspinner to access your UNI e-mail account): E-mail is not necessarily
secure. If you have a UNI e-mail address (name@uni.edu), and access
your UNI e-mail from off-campus via software such as Outlook, Outlook
Express, Netscape Messenger or Eudora, UNI Information Technology
Services asks you to turn on your e-mail encryption (scrambled code)
option as soon as possible. This is a personal and university security
issue. Without encryption, third parties on the Internet can intercept
your e-mail messages, User I.D. and password. You simply need to "check"
the appropriate boxes within your e-mail software preferences. See
detailed instructions at
http://www.uni.edu/its/us/document/unimail/ssl/ For help, contact
the ITS Computer Consulting Center at 273-5555, or call your computer
support person. From Tom Peterson, director, ITS User Services.
