SILVERPLATTER DATABASE USERS: Rod Library will be implementing a new
interface version over the next few weeks for SilverPlatter databases:
ERIC, PsycINFO, etc. See how your favorite databases will look at
http://web5.silverplatter.com/webspirs/start.ws?customer=c96252. The
current interface version will be discontinued around Feb. 1, 2003.
LIBRARY INSTRUCTION: Planning for next semester? Think Library.
Think library orientation. Think customized library workshop. Call

GARDENING NEWSLETTER: The December issue of The Botanical
Center's "Hooked On Gardening Newsletter" is now available at
SPRING FITNESS CLASS REGISTRATION: Registration for Spring Fitness
Classes has started. Stop in WRC 101 to sign-up (8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
M-F). Choose from: Boot Camp, Kickboxing, Water Aerobics, EMPLOYEE
ONLY Aerobics, Tai-Chi, Belly Dancing and more. See the yellow
brochure for a listing of all classes. Payable via U-bill, check,
or payroll deduction.


MAIL SERVICES: UNI Mail Center will be open during the holiday period
from 8 a.m. to noon on Dec. 23, 26, 27, 30 and 31 but no deliveries
will be made to campus offices. Dec. earnings statements will be held
and available at the Mail Center on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Those not picked
up will be delivered in campus mail on Jan. 2. The Mail Center will
continue to receive Fed Ex packages during the holiday period and they
will be available for pick-up between 8 a.m. and noon, no deliveries
will be made until Jan. 2. If stopping at the Mail Center is
inconvenient, those expecting packages might want to arrange for
delivery to their home address.
MAUCKER UNION FOOD SERVICE: Dec. 19-20: JW’s Pizza and Club Cafe will
be open on the lower level of Maucker Union. The food court will be
closed for re-construction. December 20 is the final day for elevator
service to the lower level. Dec. 23: There will be no food service
in Maucker Union over the semester break so we can move food service
to the Expansion. Jan. 9-10: 23rd St. Market will be open. Jan. 13:
Maucker Union Expansion C service will open.
2003 MINORITY BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION: New for-profit, full-time
business start-ups, located in Iowa, preferably in the Cedar Valley,
owned and operated by minority entrepreneurs are encouraged to enter
their original business plans into this competition. The submission
deadline is March 24. The maximum award is $5,000 and will be
presented in May. For contest details, visit the JPEC Web site at

DEE SHEERER RETIREMENT: Help Dee Sheerer celebrate her retirement
from UNI and the Motor Pool on Friday, Dec. 20 from 2-3:30 p.m. at
the Physical Plant. Refreshments will be served and a brief
presentation held in the Carpenter shop on the north side of the
DECEMBER PAY CHECKS: Payday is December 31. Staff direct deposit
notices are available for pick-up at the Mail Center from 10 a.m.
until noon on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Direct deposit notices not picked
up on that date will be delivered in campus mail on Thursday, Jan.
2. Staff paychecks will be mailed as usual to staff home address.
December paychecks and direct deposit notices for students are mailed
to the student's home, not local address.
McELROY FELLOWSHIP NOMINATIONS: The McElroy fellowship provides
recipients $10,000/year for up to three years for graduate study.
If you know students who may qualify, please suggest they apply.

IRTS-SEC 222: IRTS' Curriculum Library and computer labs will be closed
at Friday, Dec. 20, 5 p.m. and will reopen 7:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13.
MUSEUM HOURS: Both the University Museum and Marshall Center School
will be closed Dec. 24,25,28,29 and Jan. 1.
MAUCKER UNION FINALS WEEK HOURS: Tuesday, Dec. 17, 6:30 a.m.-2 a.m.;
Wednesday, Dec. 18, 6:30 a.m.-midnight; Thursday, Dec. 19, 6:30 a.m.-
9 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 20, 6:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 21, closed
for Commencement.
WRC WINTER BREAK HOURS: The WRC hours for finals week and winter break

VERTIGO A-GOGO: A Performance Art works in the UNI Gallery of Art
Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. Free and open to the public.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cheer on the Panthers as they host #12-ranked
Minnesota on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 1:05 p.m. in the West Gym. The
Panthers will then tip-off their conference schedule as they host
Illinois State, Jan. 2 at 7:05 p.m. and Indiana State, Jan. 11 at
2:05 p.m. All games will be held in the West Gym.
MEN'S BASKETBALL: The Panthers host Wisconsin-Green Bay, Monday Dec.
23, intrastate rival Iowa State, Sunday, Dec. 29 and Illinois State,
Tuesday, Jan. 7. All games are at 7:05 p.m. in the UNI-Dome.
GOT CHOCOLATE?: Dec. 30, 9 a.m. - noon, University Museum. Elementary
age youth will learn about chocolate's creation, its ingredients and
some history about George Cadbury, Milton Hershey and Henri Nestle,
the men who made it famous. Register and pay by Monday, Dec. 23. Cost
is $10. Call 3-2188 for questions.
WRESTLING: The Panthers will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 11 as
they host Northern Illinois. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m. in
the West Gym.
LORD OF THE DANCE: Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance comes to the
GBPAC Jan., 12 at 2 & 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $36, $39, $42, and
$46 for adults. Student prices are $28.80, $31.20 and $33.60. To
