PADDLING PANTHER SWIM LESSONS:
The Paddling Panther Learn to Swim Program is available to children
of UNI students, faculty and staff. The spring session, from Jan.
18 - May 3, includes preschool through level VI. Lessons are taught
on Saturdays for 40 minutes at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. (dependent upon demand).
Cost is $35 and registration and further details can be attained by

LIBRARY NOTICE:

CONTROLLER'S
OFFICE DEADLINES: The
Controller's Office will be closed for the Christmas break beginning
Tuesday, Dec. 24 until Thursday, Jan. 2. Outgoing mail is processed
in Iowa City, so checks will be processed on Friday, Dec. 20 and placed
in the outgoing mail to ensure prompt delivery. Request for Payments
and Travel Reimbursement Forms should be in the Controller's Office
no later than Tuesday, Dec. 17 at noon in order to be guaranteed to
be in the Friday, Dec. 20 check run. Checks will be processed based
on vendor terms as established in the supplier database.

MAUCKER UNION CONSTRUCTION
UPDATE: The elevator to the lower level will be
closed from Dec. 23 through approximately Sept. 2003. Most food selections
currently offered in Club '91 will be moved to the Expansion for the
spring semester: The food court area (Blimpies, Asian Creation, Bent
Fork and Freshens) will close Wednesday, Dec. 18 for reconstruction.
Club '91 will be open for service on Thursday and Friday (Dec. 19/20).
No food service will be available in the Union during the holiday
break. Beginning Monday, Jan. 13 all Union food service will be relocated
in Expansion C of the Union. Pizza, subs, coffee, bagels, and muffins
will be available. Hours of service will be Monday-Thursday: 7am-11pm;
Friday: 7am-10pm; Saturday: 10am-10pm; Sunday: noon-11pm.

UNI-AEOP Adpot a Family is still accepting donations. The collection
points are SEC 146, Human Resources - Gilchrist 104, or University
Apartments, 3900 Jennings Drive. Donations are being accepted until
5 pm., Dec. 12. The adopted families and the items they need are listed

GREG NICHOLS VISIT:
At the invitation of the Faculty Senate, Greg Nichols, Executive Director
of the Board of Regents for the State of Iowa, will address university
faculty on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 3:30 p.m. in Lang Hall Auditorium.

UNI LOCAL FOOD PROJECT:
Iowa Public Television will run a story which will feature the UNI
Local Food Project's accomplishments in expanding local markets for
local farmers in Black Hawk and neighboring counties. The program
will air on Friday Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. on "Market to Market"
and will be re-run on Sunday Dec. 15 at 12:30 p.m.

NEW
HORIZONS BAND CONCERT:
Tuesday, Dec. 10, 7 p.m., GBPAC Davis Hall. NHB is a 45 member concert
band conducted by Bill Shepherd, Associateprofessor in UNI School
of Music. The concert will feature Christmas music, marches and other
band music. No charge.

The UNI women's basketball team will be back inaction this Wednesday(Dec.
11) as Big Twelve opponent Missouri visits the West Gym at 7:05 p.m.
It is the homecoming for former Panther assistant coach Tanya Warren.

STRESS RELIEF RUN:
The Panther Pacers Running Club is sponsoring a "Stress Release
Run" on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 4 p.m. The run starts at the Maucker
Union. It is open to all UNI students and faculty who need a good

CELEBRATE THE SEASON:
holiday celebration, takes place Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. in the
Maucker Union Expansion. The event will includewinter celebrations
of several cultures and religions. Featured will be explanations of
holiday celebrations observed by Muslims, East Indians,African Americans,
Latinos, and those of the Christian and Jewish faiths.Following will
be a series of interactive games, activities and displays allowing
attendees to learn more about the topics covered. Santa Claus will
make his traditional visit.
