AFSCME
EMPLOYEE VOTE: On
Tuesday, Oct. 8, six informational meetings and a vote by the membership
of AFSCME will take place at the union office, located at 704 1/2
Main St., Cedar Falls. The vote will determine how Merit-contract
covered employees will share in the university budget reductions.
The meetings will be at 7 a.m., 9 a.m.,11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and
5 p.m. All Merit bargaining-unit employees will be in pay status for
a maximum of 1.50 hours, within their regularly scheduled shift, if
they plan to attend one of the meetings. Employees are asked to notify
their supervisor about which meeting they will attend.

ROY CHUNG SERVICE:
Roy Chung, Associate Professor Emeritus of Geography, died on Friday,
Sept. 27 at Allen Hospital after a courageous battle with stomach
cancer. Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 5 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof
Funeral Home, 1825 W 12th St, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from
5-8 p.m. with a rosary and memorial at 7 p.m.

UNI WOMEN'S SOCCER TIME CHANGE:
The Panthers host two conference matches this weekend on the West
Athletic Field. SMS visits campus at 4 pm on Friday (note: this is
a time change from the original schedule) and Drury takes on UNI on
Sunday at 1 pm.

CLUB '91:
Located on the lower level of Maucker Union, Club '91will reopen soon
with a large multi-level seating area with two food venues and televisions.
JWs will open Oct. 7 and features pizza, bread sticks, toasted sandwiches
and fountain pop. Club Cafe will open Oct.10 featuring sandwiches
on homemade deli buns, fresh pastries and cookies, bottled beverages,
fountain pop, hot cocoa and specialty coffees. JWs is open 10:30 a.m.

INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY RE-ACCREDITATION:The
visiting team from the National Association of Industrial Technology
(NAIT) has recommended full re- accreditation for four of UNI's academic
programs in Industrial Technology: Construction Management, Graphic
Communications, Manufacturing Technology, and Technology Management.
The final decision is expected in November.

EARTH SCIENCE SEMINAR:
Monday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. in 125 Latham Hall. Dr. Rhawn Denniston,
Asst. Professor of Geology at Cornell College, will present "Paleo-preciptation
and vegetation characteristics deduced from speleothems." Dr.
Denniston will discuss his work with mineralogic and chemical signatures
in cave "flowstones" which provide information on climate
change.
