EMPLOYEE RESOURCES

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: The MPDC will host "Creative Problem
Solving: Thinking Outside the Box" on Friday, Aug. 2 and again on
Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in rooms 1-3 of CBB.

SUPERVISORY TRAINING: UNI Training and Development will offer
S.T.E.P. (Supervisory Training to Enhance Performance) with
Student Employees. Sessions have been revised and refined to

LIBRARY ONLINE CHAT REFERENCE PILOT TEST: Rod Library is pilot
testing a chat service to assist UNI students, faculty, and staff
while they are conducting online research. Clicking the "Ask a
Librarian" links on the Rod Library Web site

will connect users to a reference librarian. Hours are 2 to
4 p.m., Monday - Friday.

REINSTATEMENT OF FACULTY SUMMER RESERVE LIST: The deadline for
reinstating Summer 2002 course reserves for the Fall 2002 semester

MASSAGE: Due to the popularity of summer massage, two additional
dates have been added to the schedule in the Wellness Resource Lab.
Tuesday, July 30 and Tuesday, August 6 from 11:00 to 4:00 each day.
The cost is $10 for 15 minutes. Sessions up to one hour may be
purchased. Pay by cash, check, u-bill, or payroll deduct. Call
3-6119 to schedule.

NEWS

INTERIM COLLEGE OF EDUCATION DEAN NAMED: William Callahan, associate
dean of the College of Education, has been named interim dean of the
college. Callahan replaces Thomas Switzer, who resigned as dean in May
to become dean of the College of Education at the University of Toledo,
in Ohio. His appointment is effective immediately.

UNI IN THE NEWS: Cargill Industrial Oils and Lubricants in Minneapolis announced a
collaboration between itself, Electric Research and Mfg. Cooperative in Tenn. and Waverly
Light and Power, to provide soy-based transformer oil for electric utilities. The oil,
bioTrans, was co-developed by ABIL and Waverly Light and Power.

College Tour, Volleyball Team Camp, and NCA Cheer and Dance Camp.

FACILITIES PLANNING PHONE CHANGES: In order to address the current
budget situation, Facilities Planning has made some changes in their
phone setup. Effective immediately, Facilities Planning will only
have one receptionist answering phones for all three offices. The
numbers 3-6181 and 3-6126 will now roll to the number in Facilities
Planning West, located in the Physical Plant. The main number for
all three locations is 3-2611. If you have any questions or concerns

EVENTS

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A 1920'S TEACHER: Saturday, July 27, at the
Marshall Center School. Presented by Matt Nelson, this is one in a
series of programs focusing on different aspects of rural Iowa life
in and around one-room schools. As part of the UNI Museums, the
Marshall School has been refurbished to represent the schoolhouse in
1922. The schoolhouse is open to the public from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.;
the program begins at 2:00.
