MEMFIS:
MEMFIS Help was inundated with questions last week when MEMFIS went
"live". Questions frequently asked were in regard to notification messages
users receive via email, how to forward Excel (ADI) spreadsheets to
approvers as attachments, and clarification of Foundation account handling.

STAFF TRAINING GRANT APPLICANTS:
Beginning with the Fall semester, all funds for the Staff Training Grant
Tuition Reimbursement Program will be awarded on a first-come-first
serve basis. When the budgeted amount for each semester has been distributed,
no other training grants will be awarded for that semester. You are
encouraged to submit your staff training grant applications for Fall,
2001 as soon as possible. If you have additional questions, please call
Regina Smith in Human Resources, at 3-2521.

EQUIPMENT CAPITALIZATION:
The definition of equipment has been modified as of July 1 for budgeting
and accounting purposes. Equipment is now defined as any item of moveable
property which has a useful life of two years or more and a unit acquisition
cost of $2,000 or more. MEMFIS object cost 04025 (formerly legacy object
code 7011) should be used for equipment with an acquisition cost of
$2,000 or more, while object code 63110 should be used for equipment
with an acquisition cost of less than $2,000. Equipment encumbered at
June 30, 2001 with an acquisition cost between $1,000 and $1,999.99
will be converted to object 063110 by Purchasing Dept. staff. If you

AIRLINE TICKETS: The Purchasing
Office has announced that the procedure for booking and payment of airline
tickets will be converting to UNI procurement cards. New profiles will
need to be completed which will include the appropriate procurement

HOST FAMILIES NEEDED: UNI's
Culture and Intensive English Program is looking for five host families
to host an overnight homestay from the morning of July 28 to the afternoon
of July 29 for a group of college-aged girls from Kansai Gaidai University
in Japan. Each family is asked to host two girls, who in turn learn
about American culture and family life. If interested, please contact

AIR FARE SALE: Purchasing
is forwarding the following announcements: American Trans Air is offering
an airfare sale to any of their US destinations. The following rules
apply: Travel must be completed by Dec. 15. Tickets must be purchased

CBA STAFF AWARD: Susan Meyeraan,
Assistant Director of the College of Business Administration's Management
and Professional Development Center, has recently been awarded Certification
in Implementing the Return on Investment Process. Susan is the only
individual certified in Iowa and completed her certification through
completion of coursework in Utah and consulting projects with corporate
clients in Iowa, Illinois and Michigan.

DEPARTMENT OF RESIDENCE:
The DOR office is currently in transition back to Redeker Center following
their renovation project. The following staff have moved back to Redeker
Center: Mona Milius, Carol Fletcher, Lisa Krausman, Gloria Pohlmann,
Dan Gleissner, Sharon Wolfe, Lyn Redington and Drake Martin. The Department
reception area, photo IDs and catering will continue in the Towers Center
through most of July. The DOR phone numbers and mail code will remain
the same.
