ASSAULT: At approximately 9:50 p.m., April 24, a female UNI student was reportedly assaulted near the overpass bridge between the South UNI-Dome parking lot and the bridge entrance on the west side of Hudson Road. The victim was leaving the Nelly concert when she was physically assaulted and sustained cuts and bruises to her face. The victim did not require medical attention. She was able to free herself from her attacker and run from the area. The only identification the victim could provide was the suspect was a dark- skinned male, possibly wearing blue jeans. This case remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the UNI Department of Public Safety at 3-2712.

With the upcoming renovation and expansion of McCollum Science Hall, the Sabin "G" parking lot will permanently close. No additional "G" parking will be added for the 2001-2002 year. With these changes in mind, the Department of Public Safety will not oversell the "G" lot for the coming year. POSSIBLE ELIMINATION OF WORK STUDY: As a result of the State of Iowa budget debates, the 2001-02 Iowa Work Study program has been targeted for elimination. This means that there may be a drastic reduction to the total work study fundings at UNI for 2001-02. Due to the potential loss of Iowa Work Study funds, students who wish to be considered for 2001-02 work study should have already applied for financial aid. Students who have not applied are encourged to complete the 2001-02 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. It is very likely that many students who received work study as part of their 2000-01 award package may not receive it during 2001-02. If you have questions on how to complete and submit a FAFSA, please feel free to contact the Financial Aid / Student Employment Office at 116 GIL, 3-2700.
