AUDITORIUM
RESERVATIONS:
The University Auditorium, Lang Hall will be accepting event reservations
starting on March 8 with events starting March 29. Through August
2001, lighting requirements will be limited. Event reservations can
be made for up to 1 year in advance of the actual event date. Questions
can be directed to Bryan Beardsley at 3-2256 or Bryan.Beardsley@uni.edu.

LEGISLATIVE
UPDATE:
Governor Tom Vilsack is widely expected to veto most of a $26 million
fiscal year 2001 deappropriation bill passed by the Iowa House and
Senate last week. The bill as written would cut UNI's current fiscal

VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER: The
Visitor Information Center (booth off of University Avenue) will be
closed during Spring Break. Visitors to campus may obtain a guest/visitor
parking pass from the Public Safety office or from the University
Visitor Center (corner of 27 th Street and Hudson Road).

UNI IN THE NEWS: UNI Jazz 50th
Annivesary on IPTV -- An upcoming edition of Iowa Public Television's
"Living in Iowa" will include a segment on the first 50 years of Jazz
at UNI. The program will air at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 23 and will
be rebroadcast on Sunday, March 25 (check local listing for time).

entry necessary. There will also be free popcorn and candy in the

TRAINING: Recently a Computer Skills Self-Assessment survey
was made available to all UNI personnel whose job responsibilities
include account reconciliation, purchasing, budget fund transfers,
accounts payable, initiating air travel or document approval. Computer
training workshops have been set up to ensure that all those who will

PRE-PROFESSIONAL PREVIEW EXPERIENCE IN MERIDA,
MEXICO: Please pass the following information along to
your students. The UNI Career Center, in collaboration with the UNI
Modern Languages Department, is offering an international pre-professional
preview experience in Merida, Mexico. The program is called "UNI Job
Shadowing and Informational Interviewing in the Yucatan Peninsula,
Mexico" and will take place from July 16-25, 2001. We are looking
for students who have junior or senior status, can speak Spanish,
and would like to participate in the program. For more information
