MAIL
DELIVERY:
The Mail Center will be delivering to offices once (Gilchrist twice)
per day during the week of Spring Break. They will assume your office
is open for mail delivery unless you notify them otherwise. Your normal
mail delivery person will inform you of the approximate time of day
your mail stop will be made during the break. Please call 32448 or
e-mail rose.kading@uni.edu
if your office will be closed or if you need a special pickup over
the break.

"BE OUR GUEST": For the first
time ever, Wellness and Recreation Services is sponsoring a UNI Faculty/Staff
Fun Night. This new event will be held Fri., March 23 from 8-10:30
p.m. in the WRC. Fun Night is free and each employee is allowed one
adult guest. There will be refreshments and drawings for prizes. Participants
are encouraged to pre-register by 5:30 p.m., Tues., March 20 by calling

EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT: UNI's Management
and Professional Development Center will present "Effectively Managing
Difficult Employees" with Dr. Frank Barrios on Fri., March 30 and
repeated Wed., April 4 from 9-4 p.m. in Curris. The fee for UNI employees
is $132 and includes all student materials, lunch, and morning and

AUDITORIUM RESERVATIONS: The University
Auditorium, Lang Hall will be accepting event reservations starting
on March 8 with events starting March 29. Through August 2001, lighting
requirements will be limited. Event reservations can be made for upto
1 year in advance of the actual event date. Questions can be directed

LEGISLATIVE
UPDATE - IMPORTANT BUDGET NEWS:
Protests by college students and state agencies appear to have slowed
a move by Republican state legislators to cut $40 million from current
fiscal year budgets. The proposed deappropriation would include cuts
from the fiscal year 2001 budget of $1.05 million from UNI, $3.3 million
from Iowa State University, and $3.95 million from the University

Student Employment Week is April 2-6: Do something extra special for
your students. You are encouraged to nominate an outstanding student
for "UNI Student Employee of the Year". During the week, Financial
Aid/Student Employment will draw student employee names for gifts-no
entry necessary. There will also be free popcorn and candy in the
Financial Aid / Student Employment Office (116 Gilchrist Hall) April

TRAINING: Recently a Computer Skills Self-Assessment survey
was made available to all UNI personnel whose job responsibilities
include account reconciliation, purchasing, budget fund transfers,
accounts payable, initiating air travel or document approval. Computer
training workshops have been set up to ensure that all those who will
