MILLENNIUM LECTURE SERIES: "Who Will We Be?: The Future of Gender
and Other Identities in the New Millennium". Tues. Sept. 26,
7 p.m. in the GBPAC Davis Hall. How will shifting conceptions of
ethnic, religious, regional and gender identities impact our lives
in the roles we encounter every day in community life? Professor
Harry Brod from UNI's Department of Philosophy and Religion presents
a framework for a consideration of questions about identities that applies
to us all. The lecture will be followed by a reception.

P & S STAFF MEET THE PRES EVENT: The Professional and Scientific
Council invites all P&S employees to Meet the Pres on October 9
at 3:30-4:30 p.m. in KAB room 111. President Koob will reflect
on his first five years at UNI and share his vision for the future.
The 2000 Regents Staff Excellence Award recipients will also be recognized.

ABIL RECIEVES PATENTS: Waverly Light and Power and UNI's Ag-Based
Industrial Lubricants (ABIL) Research Program announced last week
that the U.S. Patent Office has granted the utility three additional
patents surrounding its previous patent for BioTrans, an environmentally
friendly, biodegradable, recyclable, soybean-based oil for use in
electric transformers andtransmission lines. BioTrans is a joint
project of WL&P and ABIL.

JAZZ VIOLINIST: America's #1 jazz violinist, Regina Carter, will
perform at the GBPAC on Sun. Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Hall.

Mon., Sept. 25, from 2-6 p.m. in the UNI Dome. All students are
invited to attend this FREE event as well as faculty and staff. Two
hundred organizations, representing business and industry, human
services, the non profit and governmental sectors will be attending.
Graduate and professional schools will also participate.
