UPDATE THE CAMPUS TELEPHONE DIRECTORY FOR 2000-01: The following
sections of the 1999-2000 campus telephone directory need to be
reviewed for accuracy:
1) Office Directory, pages 5 through 11
2) FAX numbers, pages 13 and 14
3) WWW home pages, pages 14 and 15
If there are changes in your office listing in any of these sections,
photocopy the pages affected (an enlarged copy is very helpful),
mark the changes clearly on the photocopy. Fax the marked photocopy
to: Phone Directory, Office of Public Relations, 3-2888.
DEADLINE: Sunday, Sept. 10. No changes will be accepted after that date.

UNIVERSITY CONVOCATION: The rebirth of a University tradition after an
absence of nearly three decades will take place Monday, Aug. 28, when
the All University Convocation is held at 3:15 p.m. in the UNI-Dome.
Dr. Ben Carson, head of pediatric neurosurgery for The Johns Hopkins
Medical Institutions, will be the keynote speaker, bringing his message
of the value and importance of education-- "THINK BIG: A Philosophy for
Success in Life."

FACULTY MARCHING IN UNIVERSITY CONVOCATION PROCESSIONAL: Faculty who
ordered robes and academic regalia through the Registrar's office have
been sent a notice on where to pick-up and return their academic attire
for the Monday, Aug. 28, All University Convocation. They, along with
current and emeritus faculty who have their own regalia and are planning
to march in the processional, should report to the staging area behind
the platform curtains on the 50-yard line of the Dome field at 2:45
p.m., or as shortly thereafter as possible.

BUY-SELL-TRADE BOARD IN WRC: Wellness and Recreation Services is
initiating a Buy-Sell-trade Board for used fitness and recreation
equipment. UNI students, faculty and staff can complete a card with
details about their equipment in WRC 101. Items are posted on a display
board in the WRC main hallway and on the WRS website under

PARKING LOT CLOSINGS: The P.E.C lot and the South Dome Parking lot
will be closed at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 31 due to the UNI
football game vs Morningside. Staff is asked to park in the
Campbell Lot after 2 p.m.

South Main Street from University Ave. to Jennings Drive will be closed
for approximately 6 weeks beginning Aug. 29. There will be access to
Nazareth church and to the the Country Inn. There will be NO ACCESS to
ROTH or to Hillside Courts from South Main during construction work.

GET IN THE GAME WITH INTRAMURAL SPORTS: Tennis and Racquetball singles
registration: August 28-31from 8-4:30 WRC 101($5 fee per individual).
Brackets posted and Play begins: Sept. 6
Open Co-rec Softball Tournament managers meeting: September 11, 4 p.m.
Room TBA Entries Due: Sept. 13, WRC 101 by 4:30 ($15 entry fee
per team). Play begins: Sepember 16, 9:00 a.m. (rain date Sept. 23).

WORKPLACE VIOLENCE & TRAUMA CONFERENCE: The CBA Management and
Professional Development Center will sponsor "Workplace Violence & Trauma:
Are you prepared?" Friday, Sept. 22, 8:30-4:45 at Allen College. Presenters
will discuss types and causes of workplace violence and other traumatic
events, how to identify potentially dangerous people or situations,
how to develop effective programs, interventions and reactions. Conference
fee is $175 ($195 after 9/1) For more information or to register,

STUDY ABROAD CENTER WELCOME BACK BBQ: Returning study abroad students,
new exchange students from partner institutions around the world, staff
and faculty are invited to attend, Thursday, Aug. 24, 5-7 p.m. in Seerley
Park. Introducing UNI-PAW (UNI Panthers Around the World), a new student
organization for study abroad students. Food will be provided, but feel
free to bring along a dish to share. In case of rain, the BBQ will be
