MEMFIS DEMONSTRATION: Next week the MEMFIS Project Implementation
Team will be conducting demonstrations of the prototype system using
Oracle applications. The purpose of the demonstration is to provide
a "sneak preview" of the system and most importantly, to solicit
input from the campus community. You may attend any session that fits
your schedule.

FACULTY AND ACADEMIC YEAR P&S EMPLOYEES 12 MONTH PAYCHECK OPTION:
Faculty and academic year P&S employees may be paid for their
continuing non-temporary academic year appointment in ten or twelve
equal installments beginning with the August 31 or July 31 payroll
respectively. Employees who would like to change their salary
payments from 10 to 12 months, or vice versa, must complete a form
available from Payroll, 256 Gilchrist, 3-2656, prior to July 15.

SUMMER HOURS: Beginning Monday, May 8, summer hours for University
offices are 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Summer hours will remain in effect
through Friday, August 11. Supervisors of staff who do not have e-mail
access, please inform them of the summer hours.

STUDENT EMPLYMENT NOTES: Summer payroll period begins May 6. Students
who have been awarded "Summer Work Study" may begin earning the funding
on May 6. Otherwise,they must be paid by Departmental Employment.
Please submit the Summer Approval Form before the students begin working.
April/May time sheet cut off is May 5.
April/May time sheets are due by noon, May 9.

----
COMMENCEMENT: Spring Commencement will be Saturday, May 6, in the
UNI-Dome. There will be two commencement ceremonies, one at 10 a.m.
honoring graduates from Continuing Ed. and Special Programs, CBA and
COE; and a second ceremony at 2 p.m. honoring graduates in CHFA, CNS
and CSBS. Graduate students will be honored within their college.

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE/ROAD CLOSURE-WEST 23rd ST.: The City of Cedar Falls
will begin reconstruction of West 23rd Street from Campus Street to
College Street on Monday May 8. The construction project will close
access to the Bartlett Hall/Student Services A Parking Lot. Limited
access on the street may be available at times. The work is scheduled
to be completed by the second week of June, weather permitting.

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE/ROAD CLOSURE-MINNESOTA & DAKOTA STREETS: Beginning
Monday May 8, Minnesota St. north of 27th Street and Dakota St. between
Latham Hall and McCollum Science Hall will be closed for reconstruction.
The Minnesota St. project will close the West Gym/CAC/Russell A parking
lot. During the Dakota Street project, access to the McCollum Science
loading dock will be available via Wisconsin Street. Projected completion
for both projects is July 7.

CONGRATULATIONS UNI SOFTBALL: Panther Softball captured a share of
the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title this weekend,
their first-ever regular season championship. UNI is the top seed
heading into this weekend's MVC Tournament in Peoria, Illinois.

ONLINE LEARNING @ UNI: A three-week mini-course about issues in online
learning will be offered, in which participants experience the student
point of view of online learning while learning about and discussing
online learning with colleagues. The mini-course will be conducted
entirely on the web using WebCT with no face-to-face meetings. For

UNI BASEBALL: Panther Baseball returns home for a four game series
this weekend against conference rival Southern Illinois. Friday's
game is at 7 p.m., Saturday's doubleheader starts at 4 p.m. and Sunday's
first pitch is at 1 p.m. All games are at Waterloo Riverfront Stadium.

UNI TRACK & FIELD: Panther Track & Field, coming off a strong showing
at the Drake Relays, hosts the Northern Iowa Open this Saturday at the
UNI Outdoor Track Complex. Field events begin at noon and running
events start at 3 p.m. Cheer on the Panthers in their only home
outdoor meet of the season.

BILL COSBY AT THE GBPAC: Saturday, May 13th, Bill Cosby will perform
at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center with performances at
6:30 and 9 p.m. Allen Health Systems is hosting the event. Reserved
tickets are available by calling the UNI-Dome ticket office at 273-DOME.
Tickets are $37.50, with a $3 handling fee per order.

MOTHER'S DAY DESSERT BUFFET: Celebrate Mom's special day at a dessert
buffet at the University Museum. A variety of desserts and beverages
will be available from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 14. The cost for the
buffet is $4 for 13 years and over, $2 for 5-12 years, and free for
4 and younger. Please call by May 9 for reservations.
