STRATEGIC PLAN OPEN FORUM: The Faculty Senate, the P&S Council, the
Supervisory, Confidential Merit personnel and Merit staff will hold
an open forum at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18 in 207 Gilchrist on
the Strategic Plan. Student Government has also been asked to
participate and all members of the university community are welcome

NEW E-MAIL REFERENCE SERVICE: Faculty, students, and staff can now
send reference questions to the library any time of day or night via
e-mail. Just go to the library's website

form makes it easy to send questions to the reference desk staff.

LETTERHEAD INVENTORY NEEDED: There is a limited supply of the official
UNI letterhead paper and envelopes. Production of the paper (Beckett
Concept Harbor) has been discontinued. Please let UNI Print Services
know your inventory of letterhead and letterhead envelopes and
anticipated needs so they can best determine how to disperse the
remaining letterhead and envelopes that are available to us. Once used
up there will be a replacement paper for use with future orders.

IMPORTANT STUDENT EMPLOYMENT DATES:
- March/April Time Sheets are due by noon, Tuesday, April 18.
- Spring 2000 Work Study and Departmental Employment end May 5.
- Summer 2000 Departmental Employment begins May 6 and ends August 15.
- Summer 2000 Work Study begins May 6 and ends July 28.
All employed students must be on Departmental Employment between
July 29- Aug. 15. Fall 2000 Work Study and Departmental Employment
begins August 16.

PARKING PERMIT REGISTRATION ONLINE: Do you hate waiting in those long
lines in August to get your parking permit? Avoid the lines and
register for your 2000-2001 parking permit via the web and have it
waiting for you when you return in August. To register for your parking

staff/faculty or students option. Within these areas there will be an
option to click on parking permit application.

REGENTS STAFF EXCELLENCE AWARD NOMINATIONS: For the ninth consecutive
year the Professional & Scientific employees at the University of
Northern Iowa have an opportunity to recognize up to three P&S employees
for their outstanding contributions to the University by nominating
them for the 2000 Regents Staff Excellence Awards. Employees are
encouraged to fill out the nomination form and submit it prior to

CARROLL COMMUNITY VISITATION DAY: UNI Community Visitation Days embark
upon a new adventure, taking UNI to Carroll, Iowa, this summer on
June 12. This will be the first Summer Community Visitation Day.
We are looking for new and innovative ways to include faculty and
staff in this program since local schools will not be in session.

UNIVERSITY AUCTION: UNI has scheduled an auction for noon Thursday,
April 20, at 2412 W. 27th St., Cedar Falls. 27th St. is closed, so
enter from Hudson Road, west on 31st Street, past the UNI power plant,
turn onto gravel road to the warehouse. A large variety of miscellaneous
furniture and equipment will be sold including desks, chairs, computer
equipment, files, a Dayton 230/140 AMP AC/DC stick welder, A/V equipment,
etc. All items are sold "as is" and must be removed the day of the sale.
All items must be paid for in cash (or good check) at the site before
removal. A photo ID will be required to obtain a bidding number.

NATIONAL ALCOHOL SCREENING DAY: UNI will observe National Alcohol
Screening Day, Tuesday, April 18. The screening is anonymous, free-of-
charge and open to students, faculty and staff. Participants will view
a video, listen to an educational presentation and complete a drinking
questionnaire. A mental health professional will review the questionnaire
results privately with each participant. Sessions are at 11 a.m. at
the Embassy Room in Maucker Union and 3 p.m. in WRC 104.

NI CHILDREN'S CHOIR CONCERT: The Northern Iowa Children's Choir will
present their spring concert on Friday, April 28 at 7 p.m. in the
GBPAC Davis Hall. There are 85 students representing 30 different
schools in the choir ranging from 4th to 8th grade. Admission is free.
