FACULTY STRATEGIC PLAN MEETING: The UNI Faculty Senate will hold an 
open meeting for faculty to give input to the strategic plan Monday, 
Dec. 13, from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. in the Seerley Great Reading Room.

SCHOLARSHIPS: If you have recently awarded scholarships to UNI 
students for Fall/Spring  1999-2000, please make sure you have 
either entered the information on the computer or sent a scholarship 
roster to the Financial Aid Office by Friday, December 10. This

SPRING 2000 COURSE RESERVE REQUESTS:  To have Spring 2000 Course 
Reserve Requests processed and ready for students to check out on the
first day of the spring 2000 semester, the MultiService Center in 
Rod Library  needs to receive your reserve requests by Dec. 23. For 
course reserve lists after December 23, we can not guarantee that the
reserve items will be processed and available for check out on the 
first day of classes.  Lists submitted during the first few weeks of 
the semester  can take up to two weeks to process.

faculty and staff, in cooperation with Continuing Education, Contract 
Training, is planning a technical workshop on campus for April 15, 2000
on distance learning tools. We request that any faculty members 
currently working on distance learning projects contact
us with information about your project and technical interests. These
projects could involve any number of distance learning tools and
technologies. This workshop and project is funded by Deere, Inc.

TAILORED LIBRARY TRAINING OFFERED: Will your spring Semester classes 
be using the Internet or the Library?  You may want to consider 
reserving a library instruction session tailored to your specific 
course objectives and assignments.  The Rod Library faculty can
offer your class instruction ranging from a basic introduction to 
advanced workshops on information retrieval.  Interested?  Call Cindy 
Kruckeberg or Chris Neuhaus at 273-2838.  Rod Library instruction 
sessions are quite popular - so be sure to call early to reserve
instruction for your classes this coming semester.  Please be sure 
to call at least two weeks in advance.
INTERNET/DATABASE WORKSHOPS: The Rod Library will be offering 
Internet and Database Workshops once per week throughout January

GOVERNOR'S RECEPTION: Governor Tom Vilsack, First Lady Christie 
Vilsack, and Lieutenant Governor Sally Pederson invite all UNI 
employees to a Holiday Open House at the Governor's Office, First 
Floor, State Capitol, on Friday, Dec. 10 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. or 
4-6 p.m.
AEOP ADOPT-A-FAMILY: Thanks to all of those who have already given us
your commitment, Santa is filling up his sleigh but there is still 
room for more gifts to take to our UNI-AEOP adopted families. If you 
have not already done so, please sign up today. Gift certificates or 
cash donations are welcome and will be used to purchase gifts, food

KWANZAA: The University of Northern Iowa Multicultural Activities and 
Programming committee is sponsoring a Kwanzaa celebration entitled, 
"Karamu".  It will take place on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. in 
Maucker Union Expansion A&B.  This is a campus-wide invitation for 
students, staff and faculty.
UNI VOLLEYBALL: UNI Volleyball, 30-0 and in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA 
Tournament for the first time, plays at Pacific at 9 p.m. central time 
Friday. With a win, they advance to Saturday's match at 9 p.m. central 
time to play for a Final Four berth . All UNI volleyball games this 
weekend will be broadcast on KCNZ  (1250 and 1650 AM) and be available 
through the UNI Athletics web site at 
PANTHER WRESTLING:  #16 UNI vs. #5 Minnesota, Friday Night, 7:30 p.m., 
in the West Gym.  Cheer on Northern Iowa as they face the 1999 NCAA 
runner-up Golden Gophers. Also this weekend, #16 UNI vs. #22 Ohio State, 
Sunday afternoon, 1 p.m., in the West Gym.
INTERNATIONAL COFFEE HOUR: The last International Coffee Hour of the 
year will be held in the International Services Center on Friday, 
Dec. 10, from 4- 5:30 p.m. The university community is cordially 
invited to attend. Stanislav Mann, A UNI international music majors, 
will sing a selection of his favorite songs at 4:30 sharp. For more

UNI BASKETBALL DOUBLEHEADER: This Saturday, Panther Basketball has two 
home games.  The UNI women face BYU at 12:35 p.m. in the West Gym 
followed by the men versus Bowling Green at 3:35 p.m. in the UNI-Dome.  
Enjoy a great afternoon of hoops in the West Gym and UNI-Dome!
COCOA AND CAROLS: Bring your family to enjoy hot cocoa and cookies, 
sing traditional carols and reminisce about the traditions and 
activities in a one-room school. The University Museum will present 
"Cocoa and Carols" at the Marshall Center One-Room  School  Sunday, 
Dec. 12, from 2-3 p.m. The programs is free and everyone is invited!
CHILDREN'S CHOIR PERFORMANCE: The Northern Iowa Children's Choir will  
perform a concert on Friday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. in UNI's Russell Aud.  
The group is composed of 80 students in grades 4 through 8 in the 
Cedar Valley area. 	The NICC is under the direction of Dr. Debra Gordon.
ARTISTS SERIES: The UNI Artists Series welcomes "A Scottish Christmas" 
Thursday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Russell Hall. An all-star cast 
performs a vibrant collection of Scottish carols, wassail tunes, and 
traditional holiday Highland music and dance.  Call 273-SHOW for
