STRATEGIC PLAN MESSAGE BOARD: A Message Board has been set-up online 
to allow feedback to the UNI Draft Strategic Plan. Your input is 
critical in the process to develop a Strategic Plan for UNI. This 
Strategic Plan will set the University's  direction for the next

COMPUTER WORKSHOPS: The December ITS computer workshops schedule is 
available at  
IRTS FINALS WEEK Hours: IRTS will extend its hours of operation the week 
before finals, Dec. 6th-12th. 

MILITARY TRAINING EXHIBIT: Rod Library Special Collections and 
University Archives is featuring an exhibit on the history of 
military training at UNI. The exhibit, located in cases in the 
Special Collections area on the Library's third level, focuses on the
three eras during which military training was offered directly to 
UNI students:  the turn of the century Normal School Battalion, the 
World War I Student Army Training Corps, and the contemporary Reserve
Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) unit. The exhibit features documents
and striking photographs from the University Archives as well as 
artifacts from the UNI Museum and the Department of Military Science.
The exhibit will be in place for the next few weeks.
COCOA AND CAROLS: Bring your family to enjoy hot cocoa and cookies, 
sing traditional carols and reminisce about the traditions and 
activities in a one-room school. The University Museum will present 
two "Cocoa and Carols" programs at the Marshall Center One-Room 
School on Nov. 30, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and 7-8 p.m., and Sunday, 
Dec. 12, from 2-3 p.m. The programs are free and everyone is invited!
TREELIGHTING CEREMONY: A tradition that began on the UNI campus in 
1943 will be celebrated at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30, with the holiday
tree lighting ceremony. The tree lighting will take place north of 
Maucker Union, with Santa Claus arriving in a horse-drawn carriage.
Around 7:15 p.m., festivities will continue inside Maucker Union 
with music, hot chocolate, hot apple cider, eggnog and cookies. 
Children will have an opportunity to visit with Santa Claus, and 
sleigh rides will be provided from 7:15 to 9 p.m. 
MUSEUM GIFT SHOP HOLIDAY SALE: Need a gift for that special person?  
Come to the Museum's Gift Shop Holiday Sale and choose from a variety
of international items, jewelry, books, music, t-shirts, children's 
toys & games and much more. Shop on Dec. 1-3, 9-4:30; Dec. 4-5 from 
1-4 p.m., or on the evening of Dec. 1 from 6-9 p.m.
MEDITERRANEAN ARCHITECTURE: The Black Hawk Regional Chapter of the 
Iowa Archeology Society presents "A Greco-Roman Trio: Thera, Pompeii,
and Roman Glassware" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 in 220 Seerley. A 
program will be presented by three UNI history students on the 
preservation of the Minoan town of Akrotiri by the volcanic eruption 
on Thera, the culture  of Pompeii before the 79 AD eruption of 
Vesuvius and an overview of Roman glassware and its relationship to
Roman culture. For information, call Pat Higby at 266-4934.
UNI ATHLETICS: UNI Men's Basketball, off to their best start in 10 
years, faces Wisconsin-Green Bay this Thursday night in the UNI-Dome.
Tip-off is at 7:05 p.m.  Don't forget to get your tickets for UNI 
vs. Iowa, Tuesday, Dec. 7, 7:05 p.m., UNI-Dome.  Panther Wrestling, 
ranked #15 in the nation, hosts the Northern Iowa Open this Saturday 
in the UNI-Dome.  UNI Swimming is at home in the Wellness Center this
Friday (5 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m.) versus Iowa State and 
Wisconsin-Green Bay.
THEATRE UNI:  UNISTA (UNI Student Theatre Association) presents "On 
the Verge" by Eric Overmyer, directed by Shannon Patterson.  A show 
about exploration, discovery and three women in search of new worlds.
Performances are Dec 2-4 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. Admission
is $3 at the Strayer-Wood Theatre.
MUSEUM HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES: Enjoy a taste of the holiday season at 
the Museum on Dec. 7 at 11:30 a.m., with seasonal music, traditional 
storytelling and great food.  Special guest will be Dorothy Grant, 
featured in the Museum's current special exhibit.  Cost for the 
luncheon is $7.  RSVP by Dec. 1, 3-2188.
CHILDREN'S CHOIR PERFORMANCE: The Northern Iowa Children's Choir will  
perform a concert on Friday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. in UNI's Russell Aud.  
The group is composed of 80 students in grades 4 through 8 in the 
Cedar Valley area.  
ARTISTS SERIES: The UNI Artists Series welcomes "A Scottish Christmas" 
Thursday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Russell Hall. An all-star cast 
performs a vibrant collection of Scottish carols, wassail tunes, and 
traditional holiday Highland music and dance.  Call 273-SHOW for 
ticket information.
