FLU SHOTS AVAILABLE LOCALLY:  The UNI Health Clinic is out of the flu
vaccine, but you can still get a flu shot locally for $8 through

EVENTS

PUBLIC LECTURE:  "The Past in the Present" will be presented by  
distinguished UNI alumnus, Native American, painter, performance 
artist and teacher Duane Slick, Professor of Art, Rhode Island School
of Design, Thursday Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Department of Art 
Auditorium (KAB 111).

INTERNATIONAL COFFFEE HOUR: International Services invites everyone 
to attend International Coffee Hour, Friday, Oct. 29 from 4-5:30 p.m.
in the International Services Center.  Refreshments will be served. 
Special feature:  Laurie Russell will help each interested person 
design a personalized greeting card to send to a special friend!

UNI VOLLEYBALL: Who can stop UNI Volleyball? Panther Volleyball, 
ranked #19 in the nation, continued their winning streak this past 
weekend with wins over SW Missouri State and Wichita State.  UNI 
Volleyball closes out their regular season home schedule Nov. 12 and 
13.  The West Gym will be the site of the 1999 MVC Volleyball 
Tournament, Nov. 18-20.  Call 3-DOME to order your all-session tickets.

UNI FOOTBALL:  Football game time change for Saturday! Saturday's 
UNI vs. Indiana State football game in the UNI-Dome, originally 
scheduled for 6:30 p.m., will now kick-off at 1:30 p.m. to accommodate

UNI MEN'S BASKETBALL:  Get your first look at the 1999-2000 UNI men's 
basketball team this Saturday.  The Purple and Gold game, free to the 
public, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the West Gym.  Check out this 
year's hoops team and then head over to the UNI-Dome for the UNI vs. 
Indiana State football game (remember: 1:30 p.m. kick-off).

RETIREMENT PARTY: You are invited to celebrate Mary Ann Karsjens 
retirement from the Controller's Office on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 
2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Gilchrist Board Room.  The event will recognize 
almost 23 years of service to the University by Mary Ann.

MASTER CLASS PRESENTATION: One of the brightest stars on stages in 
the U.S. and abroad, Harolyn Blackwell will present a master class to 
students at the School of Music on Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999.  Admission
is free and the genenral public is invited to attend.  Charismatic 
and sensational, Ms. Blackwell has been hailed by audiences and 
critics alike as a "model of agility, spunk, charm and silvery tone."
Her visit is part of Minority High School Visitation Day in the 
School of Music.

NU HIGH PLAY: Northern University High School presents "Twelve Angry 
Jurors" Nov. 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Butzier Auditorium of 
Malcolm Price Laboratory School.  Tickets may be purchased in advance
by calling 3-6047 ($4 for adults and $3.50 for students) They 
may also be purchased the evening of the performance.

UNI ARTISTS SERIES:  The University of Northern Iowa Artists Series 
welcomes the exuberant harmonies of Piffaro˜The Renaissance Band 
performing "A Florentine Carnival" on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 
p.m. in UNI's Russell Hall.  In their Cedar Valley debut, Piffaro 
creates a lively musical portrait of 16th century Italy.  For tickets
to Piffaro at UNI call 3-SHOW.
