We all have a stake in the success of United Way. You also may have a
"steak" in turning in your United Way pledge form (whether you pledge
or not). Texas Roadhouse is supporting United Way at UNI by giving away
steak dinners to dozens of faculty and staff who turn in their pledge
forms by Oct. 22.

Northern Iowa Volleyball is one of three undefeated teams in the
nation, and at #19, ranked higher than ever before. The football team
isn't too shabby either, at 5-1 and 8th in the nation. Both take the
road this weekend, but you can still follow them at:

The Iowa 2010 Project, an initiative of the Governor's Strategic
Planning Council, is an opportunity for Iowans to share their visions
of Iowa in the year 2010 via a special phone line, on the World Wide
Web, in an e-mail or at a series of town meetings. Visit the Iowa
2010 web site for more information and for a list of town meetings
scheduled across Iowa Oct. 11-Nov.15.

HUMAN RESOURCE SERVICES

TIAA-CREF representatives will be on campus Tuesday, Oct. 19 and
Wednesday, Oct. 20. Workshops on Planning for Retirement Income and
Asset Allocation will be held on both days. For more information and
to register, visit:
http://www.uni.edu/hrs/benefits/tiaa_workshops.htm
--------------------------------------------------------------------
TIAA-CREF statements for the quarter ending September 30, 1999 will
be coming to your home address in October. It has been suggested
that with the coming change in the millenia you may want to hold on
to that statement until you receive the statement for the quarter
ending Dec. 31, 1999. TIAA-CREF has assured us that they are ready
for 2000 but retaining the quarterly statement may be a good back-up.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The P&S Council would like to announce their new web site. P&S
employees are encouraged to view and then vote for a logo for the
council. Please browse through the site and provide feedback through
the suggestions page.
