Witness to Whiteness: Shades of White Anti-Racism

Tuesday, April 10, 2012 - 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm

Why would people of white identity become active in anti-racist struggles? How can whites be more effective allies for people of color? Dr. Harry Brod, Professor of Philosophy and Humanities at the University of Northern Iowa, will explore these important avenues to racial justice. His books include White Men Challenging Racism: 35 Personal Stories and his courses include “Money, Sex and Power: Theories of Race, Class and Gender.” He has extensive experience as a social justice activist and trainer, and is a member of Campus Coalition Builders, UNI’s diversity leadership team. This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibit RACE: Are We So Different? on display at the University Museum February 6 through June 9.
