Wednesday, October 1, 2014 - 11:00 am

Northern Iowa Student Government (NISG) will sponsor VoterPalooza. The rain location for the event will be in the Maucker Union Coffeehouse. The event will include free food for 1,500 students and giveaways courtesy of NISG. Voter registration will be available and is encouraged.

 The event is co-sponsored by the Northern Iowa Democrats and UNI College Republicans.

UNI has also partnered with TurboVote to make it easy to register to vote. When students sign up, they will be able to access everything needed to register to vote, stay registered if they move, vote absentee and get reminders about local, state and federal elections. If students have already registered to vote, they can still sign up to take advantage of text or email reminders regarding elections. To sign up, visit https://uni.turbovote.org.

The UNI Society for Human Resource Management will host Jerry Glazier, who will speak about leadership. The meeting is open to all students.

Friday, October 3, 2014 - 7:00 pm

This Friday October 3rd Black Student Union will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Date Auction. The Date Auction will be held to show support and give the proceeds to a local African-American based breast cancer awareness support group called "Splash of Color" They were established in 2004 and there mission is to provide breast cancer prevention, education, support and advocacy for comprehensive, quality care in the Cedar Valley and surrounding communities. They have an annual Splash of Color walk on October 10th in Waterloo, Iowa, If we raise enough money at the Date Auction our organization will be able to participate for free. We will have males and females being auctioned off on Friday so please bring cash only. If you are the highest bidder on the model you will participate in a group date following the conclusion of the event. 

Tuesday, October 7, 2014 - 3:30 pm

Volunteer Tuesdays provide different volunteer opportunities each week; the first session is at 3:30 p.m. and a second session at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, October 10, 2014 - 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm

The Masters in Public Policy (MPP) Program is hosting a dinner reception and fundraiser to benefit the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The event will feature a formal dinner, silent auction, cash bar and opera performance. Tickets are $50 and must be purchased in advance.

Saturday, October 11, 2014 - 10:00 am

The Service and Leadership Council will host a leadership conference featuring seminars on budgeting, navigating the NISG funding process, motivation of members, team development, advertising and marketing, event planning and more. The conference is geared to student organization leaders but all students are welcome. There will be networking opportunities with other student leaders, a keynote speaker and free lunch. Registration begins at 9:45 a.m.

Tuesday, October 14, 2014 - 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm

The UNI Gospel Choir will hold live auditions for UNI students with the ability to sing, play keys, guitar and bass as well as a drummer with his/her own drum set. Audition videos can also be submitted to berryjae@uni.edu. All are welcome to audition.

PSE will host the 2nd Annual Runner's Rave 5K Glow Run. Registration is $20 prior to race day and $25 on race day. Registration includes t-shirt, glow in the dark bracelets, necklaces and glasses. Register at http://www.payitsquare.com/collect-page/49049

Friday, October 17, 2014 - 7:30 pm

A performance showcasing the talents of both Orchesis Dance Company and International Dance Theatre. Between the groups there will be dance styles such as ballet, modern, jazz, tap, ballroom and folk dance.  It's during Family Weekend; admission is free.

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) will host Pete Lee, a comedian from the Midwest.

Saturday, October 25, 2014 (All day)

Make A Difference Day is celebrated each year on the fourth Saturday in October. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, it is the nation’s largest day of community service. There will be a variety of volunteer opportunities in Cedar Falls throughout the day. Contact Katherine Polit (politk@uni.edu) with questions.

Tuesday, November 4, 2014 - 7:00 pm

Society for Human Resource Management will host Michael Kaplan, an operations manager at Johnson Controls. He will discuss the interview process, both as the interviewer and interviewee. Question and answer time will follow; the meeting is open to all majors.
