Lifelong University: Contemporary American Literature

Monday, March 26, 2012 - 5:00 am to 7:00 am

Contemporary American Literature will read and discuss contemporary literature including "Life Among the Lutherans" by Garrison Keillor; Scott Cawelti's "Brother's Blood" about the 1975 murders of the Iowa Mark family; and "Girls on the Roof," a book-length poem by former Iowa poet laureate Mary Swander. Field trips and discussions with the authors are possible. Participants need to buy and read Keillor's "Life Among the Lutherans" before classes start. The book is available at University Book and Supply. Excerpts of the other two books will be read in class. This four-session class will be taught by Kimberley Groniga. The cost of this class is $40.
