America's Healthcare Crisis: Medicalization, Overtreatment, Healthcare literacy and the Cost of Care presented by Catherine Zeman.

This two-day series will overview aspects of the healthcare cost containment crisis through a discussion of some of the latest and hardest hitting critical publications in the area of healthcare cost, quality and literacy. Special focus will be placed on understanding the role marketing of drugs has played in healthcare literacy and how the definition of disease impacts the scope of healthcare problems in the U.S. asking such questions as are current depression treatment methods providing a good return on investment, how might complications of treatment drive further medical cost spirals, and does how we define a disease raise the cost of care? Solutions to these trends will also be explored. The cost for this class is $20.
