Imani Winds

Sunday, October 28, 2012 - 10:00 am

Grammy-nominated Imani Winds redefines the boundaries of the traditional wind quintet.  This adventurous group of musicians has carved out a distinct presence in the classical music world.  With two member composers and a deep commitment to commissioning new work, the group is enriching the traditional wind quintet repertoire while meaningfully bridging European, American, African, and Latin American traditions.  Guided by their namesake "Imani," Swahili for "faith," their music engages audiences in performances that "sparkle with tonal warmth" and "polished ensemble playing" (The New York Times).
