Awards Ceremony and Opening Reception: March 23 at 7:00 p.m. in KAB 111.

The UNI School of Music will host the 2015 Iowa Composers Forum Spring New Music Festival. This festival will feature new music from Iowa composers, as well as a student musician performance featuring art songs by Hearst Series artist and composer Jake Heggie at 6 p.m., and a concert of mixed works by Iowa Composers at 8 p.m. both on Friday, March 27. Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society will host a speed reading workshop presented by Iris Reading. Participants will learn simple ways to increase reading speed, as well as how to improve comprehension, remember more of what you read, read faster on the computer screen, improve concentration while reading and read technical material more effectively. The workshop is open to all UNI students and staff, with extra discounts available for those that sign up in pairs or groups.

TEDxUNI: Charting Destiny will launch conversations and inspire positive growth for individuals, for institutions and for our culture. Ten speakers and performers, including a Purple Heart recipient, a Mayo Clinic physician/author, community designers and entrepreneurs, educators, Ceder Valley youth and others will each contribute a unique angle on the vital TEDxUNI message: each of us has the power to overcome our challenges, shape our own destiny and improve our world. In addition, TEDxUNI will host XFest, a high-energy, experiential festival, along with concurrent campus/community viewing parties as TEDxUNI is streamed to the world live.
