In honor of the 2014 UNI Earth Week Celebration, UNI students are invited to participate in an afternoon of relaxing yoga. This free event will feature certified UNI yoga instructors. All participants will receive a water bottle. Classes will be held at 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required.

Folk Songs and the U.S. Labor Movement: A Singing Lecture with Corey Dolgon

Monday, April 21, 2014 - 7:30 pm

Corey Dolgon, a Ph.D. in American Culture and Sociology Professor, has been performing “singing lectures” for more than a decade. Focusing on the role that folksongs play in the U.S. labor movement, Corey’s words and music bring both history and theory to life. He is a long-time labor activist and community organizer and has used folk songs to build solidarity on the line and engage students in the classroom. This singing lecture covers labor history from a multicultural perspective and examines the function of folk songs in workers’ lives, labor and organizing. This event is free and open to the public. Sponsored by the UNI Interpreters Theatre, the Department of Communication Studies and the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences.

Michael Krajewski, guitar

Monday, April 21, 2014 - 8:00 pm

Visiting artist Michael Krajewski, guitar will present a recital. Michael J. Krajewski earned his Bachelors of Music at Berklee College of Music (1998) in Professional Music and Master of Music at Georgia State University (2007) in Jazz Studies, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree with a secondary area in Music Education at the University of Minnesota (2013). Michael is on the guitar faculty at Minnesota State University Moorhead, and at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, and maintains an active private studio in Woodbury, MN. This event is free and open to the public.
