The UNI football team will take on the Youngstown Penguins as a part of the Hall of Fame Weekend.

Within just a few short years the Hugo Wolf Quartett has developed from a chamber music lover’s insider tip to one of the most sought after string quartets of its generation.

The International Hugo Wolf Society of Vienna allowed this ensemble, founded in 1993 at the Vienna University for Music, to use the composer’s name. The group’s current members are the violinists Sebastian Gürtler and Régis Bringolf, the violist Gertrud Weinmeister and the cellist Florian Berner. Shortly thereafter, the quartet won the Fifth International String Quartet Competition in Cremona, took first prize at the 45th International G.B. Viotti Chamber Music Competition, the European Chamber Music Prize and Special Prize of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and were elected Rising Stars.

The UNI swimming & diving team will take on the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks.

For some, their first musical memory might be a favorite song playing on the radio, a video on MTV, or a concert their parents took them to. But for 22-year-old singer-songwriter-guitarist Lukas Nelson, his first music memory is being onstage with such superstars as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and his father Willie Nelson singing along and stomping his feet to a crowd of thousands. Nelson who fronts the Southern-folk-rock group Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and whose full-length debut CD, Promise of the Real, was released December 21, 2010.

In Silk Cascade, Lily Cai’s choreography bridges the continuum from the past to present, from the creative interpretation of China’s Dai minority dances to the vibrant contemporary swirls of long silk ribbons in the Silk Cascade finale, inspired by the art of Jackson Pollock.

Youth ages 5-12 are invited to join the UNI Volleyball Little Panther Club.  The club gives youngsters the opportunity to learn volleyball skills and activities from current UNI volleyball players and coaches.  In addition to the clinic on Oct. 23, club members will demonstrate their skills at the "Playing in McLeod" event on Sat., Nov. 12.  Free admission to all home, regular-season UNI volleyball games is included with the $20 registration fee.
