PRSSA will host public relations expert Karmen Johnson. She has more than 20 years experience working in public relations, corporate communications and creative services. Her diverse career includes positions with Starbucks; Expedia, Inc.; and Edelman, the world's largest public relations agency, with clients ranging from eBay, Levi's and Microsoft Xbox. The event is free and open to the public.
American author and journalist Susannah Cahalan will talk about her experiences battling a rare autoimmune disease, as described in her memoir Brain on Fire. Cahalan recollects a forgotten month which was caused by a psychotic break as a result of her undiagnosed illness. A Q&A session and a book signing will follow the presentation. Lemonade and cookies will be provided. Three copies of Brain on Fire wil be given away.
Students who recently attended the National LGBTQ Task Force's Creating Change Conference will discuss their experiences and new knowledge, along with suggested actions for creating change on campus. A Q&A discussion will follow the presentation.
The open house will introduce the campus community to UNI CLACA, the educational programs and students that the organization supports, as well as study abroad opportunities in China. Lunch and beverages will be provided.
The Chinese Language and Culture Association presents "A Day In The Life of China," a film explorining Chinese daily life.
