Renew Yourself by Walking the Labyrinth

Walking the labyrinth is a practice used for centuries as a way to calm the mind, center oneself, reflect and find self-renewal. Labyrinths are usually circular patterns that have one path leading to the center of the circle and then back out again. At first glance it may seem similar to a maze, yet it is very different. There are no wrong turns, no dead ends and no tricks. This is a great time of year to pause and remember the things for which you are grateful as you walk the path of the labyrinth. The labyrinth can also be made available for organizations, events and meetings.

Zumba Halloween Party

Take this FREE opportunity to discover why the Zumba dance fitness program is the latest craze! Wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothes and be ready to move to the rhythm of salsa, merengue, cumbia and reggaeton. Bring a free will donation of a non-perishable food item to support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. Costumes are encouraged, but optional!

UNI Blue Zones Project™ Party

UNI kick-off party for the Blue Zones Project™.  Participants will enjoy interactive and informational tables on simple ways to make healthy choices. Entertainment will consist of free Zumba, athletes and humane society pets. This event is free and open to all students, faculty and staff. Rain location is Old Central Ballroom, Maucker Union.

De-Stress Days

Finals week brings every semester to a close and Wellness & Recreation Services aims to keep it as stress free as possible by offering De-Stress Days. Events this semester include free mini-massages, walking the labyrinth and more. De-Stress Days is Monday-Wednesday, April 30-May 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Sponsored by Fraternity and Sorority Life and Wellness & Recreation Services.

Sexual Assault Survivor Panel

Come listen to some extraordinarily brave sexual assault survivors as they share their personal stories. The hope is to educate and empower on the dynamics and very real issues surrounding sexual assault. Let's talk about and debunk all of those myths out there. Following the panel there will be time to make posters for those who wish to participate in 'Take Back the Night.'

Go Teal Day

Wear teal ribbons to show your support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Encourage friends, family, co-workers and professors to participate.  Contact mark.rowe@uni.edu or call 319-273-3423 for more information on obtaining ribbons.

UNI Alcohol Screening Day

UNI Alcohol Screening Day offers screening and education to help students identify and stop unhealthy drinking patterns, hopefully before they evolve into substance abuse or substance dependence. Completely confidential, the screening takes only 5-10 minutes; students completing the screening will be entered in a drawing for free prizes. Sponsored by UNI Substance Abuse Services www.uni.edu/subabuse
