Make A Difference Day is the largest national day of community service. Millions of volunteers around the world unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others. UNI students will participate in various community service projects in the Cedar Valley such as Cedar River clean-up, weatherization of Washington Chapel and cleaning the Waterloo Community Garden. Meat Loaf has announced dates for his fall tour, including a stop at the University of Northern Iowa
The concert is part of his Mad Mad World Tour in support of his newly released album, "Hell in a Handbasket." The singer-songwriter is perhaps best known for such tunes as "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" and "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" that have made Meat Loaf one of the top-selling recording artists of all time. His album, "Bat Out of Hell", has sold more than 43 million copies and his total album sales are in excess of 100 million.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, Sept.15, at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, McLeod Center, online at www.unitix.uni.edu or by phone 319-273-4849. All seats are reserved and ticket prices start at $44.25. The performance is supported by The Isle and is in partnership with Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, Maucker Union and UNI Athletics.

Every Tuesday, the Student Involvement Center sends students out into the community to volunteer at various service agencies. A great way to meet new friends and make a difference. Free transportation, snacks, and shirt provided. Free shuttle leaves from Maucker Union - first shuttle: 2-5 p.m., second shuttle: 5-8 p.m. Sign up online.
