This event is an opportunity to not only honor cancer survivors and remember those who have lost the battle, but also to raise funds and awareness to help save lives. The opening ceremony is at 6 p.m., the Survivor Lap starts at 6:30 p.m. and the Luminaria ceremony is at 8 p.m.
Make a Difference Day is the largest national day of community service. Millions of volunteers around the world unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others. UNI students, faculty, and staff will participate in various community service projects in the Cedar Valley, including projects with ASPIRE Therapeutic Riding Program and the Black Hawk County Conservation. Tired of your clothes? Don't want to pay for new ones? Clean out your closet during spring break and participate in UNI's Clothing Exchange: Reduce, Reuse, Rewear. For every one item you bring, you will receive one item in return. Bring your gently used clothes, shoes and accessories to the Student Involvement Center in Maucker Union March 11-26 or bring them on the day of the event. All leftover items will be donated to local charities.

The purpose of this event is to create awareness about the disparity in world food distribution and the millions of people who remain malnourished. Participants will be randomly divided into groups representing different income levels and given meals based on what is typical of that income group.
