For the second year, Art for El Salvador will be hosting an International Day of the Girl Celebration at UNI to recognize the immense value of girls in the world today. This year we will be watching a portion of the powerful PBS documentary series, Half the Sky, which focuses on turning oppression into opportunity for women worldwide. We hope you will join us at this event to celebrate and advocate for girls!
Campus Activities Board will sponsor two showings of the movie "Maleficent" featuring Angelina Jolie. The first showing is at 7 p.m.; the second at 9:30 p.m. There will be free pizza, popcorn, pop and candy.

Timeflies will perform at UNI. Tickets go on sale Monday, Oct. 6. Student tickets are $20, plus fees (limit 2); public tickets are $30, plus fees. Tickets must be purchased at the McLeod or Gallagher Bluedorn ticket offices. Tickets will be sold in the Maucker Union at the Essentials front desk from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Wednesday prior to the concert.
UNI Dance Marathon will kick off the official opening of registration for Dance Marathon 2015. There will be orange food, games and activities as well as free Buffalo Wild Wings.
Participants work through missions on a phone app called Goosechase. Each mission is completed by taking a photo at a specific location or with a specific person/thing. The 2 person team that completes the most missions will receive prizes! The 2nd and 3rd place teams will also receive smaller prizes.

Alpha Psi Omega will host the showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Doors open at 10:30 p.m.; show starts at 11 p.m.Admission is free for UNI students with ID; $1 or a canned food item for others. Costumes are highly encouraged. Food donations benefit the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in Waterloo.
This Friday October 3rd Black Student Union will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Date Auction. The Date Auction will be held to show support and give the proceeds to a local African-American based breast cancer awareness support group called "Splash of Color" They were established in 2004 and there mission is to provide breast cancer prevention, education, support and advocacy for comprehensive, quality care in the Cedar Valley and surrounding communities. They have an annual Splash of Color walk on October 10th in Waterloo, Iowa, If we raise enough money at the Date Auction our organization will be able to participate for free. We will have males and females being auctioned off on Friday so please bring cash only. If you are the highest bidder on the model you will participate in a group date following the conclusion of the event.
Make A Difference Day is celebrated each year on the fourth Saturday in October. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, it is the nation’s largest day of community service.
