Benefits and Negotiating Pay

Financially, accepting your first job can be a confusing process. Private vs. public employers, benefits and salary negotiation are all factors in finding that perfect first job. Cindy Webb, human resources, will discuss what to watch for and be aware of when accepting a full-time position. Bring your lunch and join the Office of Student Financial Aid in learning about your financial future. The workshop will conclude with a drawing for food and t-shirt prizes.

Know Before You Owe: Insights into Student Loans

The average student loan indebtedness of a UNI student is more than $25,000. Do you know your indebtedness? Do you have a plan for repayment? Elizabeth Minard and Deb Bartels will discuss student loan repayment options and how the choices you make today can impact your future. Bring your lunch and join the Office of Student Financial Aid in learning about your financial future. The workshop will conclude with a drawing for food and t-shirt prizes.

Financial Literacy Quiz Bowl

The Office of Student Financial Aid and the Campus Activities Board are sponsoring the first Financial Literacy Quiz Bowl. Questions will focus on topics such as budgeting, credit, credit cards, saving, financial aid, identity theft, insurance and taxes. Teams of two to five students can register for a chance to win a $400 scholarship. The first 32 teams to submit their team name, team members and contact information to Liz Hoium at ehoium@uni.edu will be eligible to compete. Students who are not competing are encouraged to stop by, cheer for your favorite team and learn more about financial literacy.  All team members must be UNI students and not currently employed by the Office of Student Financial Aid.

The Psychology of Money

Have you ever considered what a dollar means to you? How and why do consumers purchase (or don’t purchase) certain products and services? What psychological processes are involved in purchases? Brenda Bass will discuss the psychology of consumer behavior and money. Bring your lunch and join the Office of Student Financial Aid in learning about your financial future. The workshop will conclude with a drawing for food and t-shirt prizes!

Topics include paying rent, grocery shopping and much more. Bring your lunch and join the Office of Student Financial Aid in learning about your financial future. The workshop will conclude with a drawing for food and t-shirt prizes.
